Alliance War Season 19: Updates to Path Identities and New Nodes! [ June 30]

Summoners,

After his defeat at the hands of the Summoner and Carina, the Grandmaster has been an elder without a calling. Despite the problems and conflicts that the Grandmaster and The Collector have caused, they are still Carina’s family, and she loves them very much.

Instead of banishing them to a far off land, she’s worked with her council to create a plan to keep the two of them busy, and out of trouble.

The Universal Gamesman

Carina knows that a game with changing rulesets and unpredictable pieces is the perfect distraction to keep En Dwi Gast out of trouble. Under her supervision, The Grandmaster will transform Alliance Wars into his tournament, where he seeks the strongest Alliances every season to crown as his victors!

Recreating the Battlefield

The Grandmaster has never been shy about wanting to mould the Contest to his vision, and making sure his presence is noticed. He’ll be starting with the Maps on which you fight.

So first, we’re going to take a look at the new Nodes, Path Identities, and Layouts of the Grandmaster’s New Maps. All Map Changes will take effect on June 24th!

New Maps

First, we've got 2 Brand New Maps! One for Alliances playing on Easy and Normal, and one for Alliances playing on Intermediate, Hard, Challenger, and Expert. If you'd like to take a closer look, we've attached the High-Resolution versions of these maps to this post.

These new more simplified Maps eliminate Portals and bring the entire Battlegroup back together and key points throughout the Map.

New Local Nodes

The Grandmaster has crafted the following nodes for Alliances on the Intermediate, Hard, Challenger, or Expert Maps.

Path Identities

If you like to plan ahead, the Grandmaster is happy to provide you with a list of all buffs on all nodes across the Maps. There are lots to look at, so we've attached the lists of Nodes in the next post.

Matchmaking Updates

The Grandmaster wants to ensure that his tournament stays as competitive as possible. To do so, he is updating the parameters of Matchmaking. Matchmaking will now emphasize your Alliance's War Rating above all else. This will ensure that Alliances vying for the crown will be competing against other top Alliances.

This will be a big adjustment for a lot of Alliances. Currently, many Alliances are either have an inflated War Rating or a Deflated War rating due to the current system. To expedite the process of Alliances finding their "true" War Rating, we will be reducing every Alliance's War Rating by 50%. This will affect every Alliance in-game and will accelerate the rate at which Alliance's find their true position faster because of the concentrated War Ratings of all Alliances.

The Change to Matchmaking and the War Rating reduction will occur on July 8th.

As a member of a Gold 2 Alliance, I hate that they made zero changes to the crystal shards. I mean war is supposed to be a place to earn them. We already get rankup materials from AQ. It was better if you didn't change anything.

Those AW changes are pretty much the exact opposite of all the feedback given by the players in the last 6 months.

Harder nodes, worst tactics, barely better rewards. Time to quit AW altogether for me.

Why keep flow though? It was clearly the most overused tactic and clearly the most hated. Where’s the incentive to use a different tactic?

Very disappointed by the evolution of the rewards for plat 4 and under.
How can you give 100% 6shards increase for master and something like 20% increase 6* shards for plat4 ? Your system allow rich players to get even richer compared to the other ones. People were complaining about BS nodes like flow or burn out on the highest tiers. You create worse (stubborn) nodes and more inequalities/pressure. I hope the upcoming roadmap for quest is at least smartly designed

Hang on there, don't say that it's better to not change the rewards haha. Adding some rewards is always better than nothing, but for AW they should have upped the shards rather than the catalysts. Not to mention that with the increased difficulty of AW, people would be even angrier if the rewards didn't change at all.

Wow. Double 6star shards and increase 5 star Shards for Master/Plat And do pretty much nothing for Gold and below? Straight BS.

Plat 4 only went up 1k 6* shards and 3k 5* shards and we play on tiers 3-5 in order to stay at plat4. Not worth the effort at all

I guess only the top 300 alliance that gives the revenue

The max is 3 indestructible charges for the defender I believe.

At which point you need to be hit / take a block damage before you can damage 'em.
Imagine having to dex the specials then instead of punishing the defender, u need to take a hit first.

The way the description states, it doesn't give a max number. And just says whenever. That's what I'm worried about. Node is already garbage, but this would make it even worse.

I think we got 6 2% crystals for Master last season maybe (I really don't remember it might be less), much more than 2% wouldn't make a ton of sense really considering the effort differnce it takes between the two.

They always roll out new resources incredibly slowly now. The shard increases, and particularly the 5* shards, definitely should have been higher in the lower ranks though

no one said that it should be such a big gap between master and P4\G1.
we are running the same map with the same BS nodes and most times map is even harder in P4\G1 because opponents don't care about Diversity.
if we share the same BS we should share similar rewards (not the same but also not such a big difference)

After looking at the Dev Diary for Quests, it seems like there's 2 completely different mentalities within Kabam. The quest developers seems to have been listening to feedback well (at least in the announcements...will have to see how it goes with implementation). The war developers though....completely opposite.

For example, in the quest announcement: "Forcing players to struggle just to do the bare minimum against opponents was difficult and unsatisfying."

In war announcement: "Hi guys. Enjoy Ebb and Flow. Plus stubborn. And flow hasn't been nerfed at all. Enjoy!"

Masters spend more. I'm not saying that there should be that much of a difference, but I'm talking as to how they've based it. You can clearly see the difference. So if you add to what G1/P4 have, if they keep the same difference, then you'll have an even bigger imbalance.
But whatever said and done, they should be a decent difference. But I don't agree with the way they have put it now.

Well from what I read in both the post and the comment section this is what I’m getting:
1) Kabam doesn’t listen to their community like usual
2) better rewards...but only if you’re in the higher tiers
3) we started with flow only to get even more bs nodes to combine with tactics
There’s more but eh you get the idea lol I can see a lot of people dropping wars over this change, and the silence I see continuing from Kabam over this overwhelmingly negative reception to these changes will speak volumes to their value of the general community.

They have already updated rewards. They won't update it again. And 1 T5cc of each class is a lot when they haven't even come close to R4 6*.

Come on guys. You can do better than this.

No mention on some of the horrible new nodes you’re introducing.
Not only did you not eliminate Defender Tactics you brought a worst one !
Attacker tactics don’t work either. Aside from maybe the Siphon one, they won’t help.

Please review this issues. They are not making war better.

Couldn't be more disappointed in the rewards update for war. Considering the effort our alliance had to put forth to hit gold 3 (units, mastery changes, revives, pots) the hope was that this war update would better reflect that effort. Instead we're left with what seems to be harder paths, tougher defensive tactics, more node/defender combinations similar to BWCV on fisticuffs, and all for half a 5* champ and very little rank up resource?? @Kabam Miike Really think you guys had an opportunity to gain more war participation with a proper rewards update but have instead pushed more people away.
