as others have said it was due to a previously broken unfair matchmaking system that has allowed small alliances to climb up higher than larger alliances where they did not belong.
now the matchmaking algorithm is changed there will be some bad matchups while the system corrects itself.
You mean after several rounds of AW, the matchmaking will be tuned into an appropriate algorithm?
No, he means after several wars your war rating will be fixed to where your supposed to be. If it means you lose all those wars because you were over inflated in prior seasons then so be it.

I just find it disingenuous that people are willing to sacrifice the efforts of other people when their argument is it's not fair the way it was. Pretty one-sided, TBH.
You ever stop to think that some of those arguing against you do not have their own interests in mind, and just think this is truly the best system to have in place.
The main difference I see between our opinions is that you believe every war needs to be fairly matched. An understandable position. But my issue with that is that you're not accounting for the fact that it has major implications for season rewards. If you want p4 rewards, there's no reason they shouldn't have to face other p4 alliances. If they think they belong there then now is the time to prove it. It's not spiteful, but they're all getting the same rewards, and therefore need to have a chance to face the same matchups.
I know you're not going to change your mind (it's sort of your MO), but stop claiming those arguing against you are disingenuous or hypocritical. After flow wars started, my alliance moved down and remain pretty much in gold 2. That's not likely to change under the new system, but I still believe the new system to be more fair.
I understand but all I am saying is that they could have done this is the offseason they screwed us for season rewards
you cant do it in offseason bc high alliances lose wars then by not playing to start next season vs lower alliances. Thats why warrating is frozen in offseason
A better question is... why did an alliance in which 50% have done an abyss clear only finish gold 2... Oh wait it’s because matchmaking has actually been broken for many seasons and this is just the first in which it’s fixed.
This is what I'm trying to get at.
War matchmaking isn't as easy as everyone is making out..
Say my alliance focusing in AQ, with casual AW - we push prestige, do we then deserve to be matched against someone who is war focused, therefore have ranked for utility opposed to prestige. (What we had 2 seasons ago, resulted in us getting absolutely slaughtered for the whole season)
Now we go off points overall alliance rating.. we get alliances who have very little interest in AW, who are happy with back up champs in AW, potentially matching up against P1 alliances. We went up against NE a couple of wars ago.. 4th in the world.. we won..
We go off war rating, that reflects how much effort you're putting into war, however it doesn't represent size difference. This is slightly more representative, as you saw what happened with us and NE. I joined a G2 alliance not long ago with a mate. Few of us had completed abyss. We weren't putting our best in AW, we weren't even putting our best into AQ.
There is no one size fits all solution to matchmaking, I'm sure Kabam would love to hear your solutions if you know how. Each system would hurt someone, or could be exploited. The new system is the lesser of two evils, and with the war ratings being halved it should balance to some degree within 3-6 wars theoretically. There will still however be the occasional bad matchup were someones pushed too high up, or an alliance that doesn't care about war has dropped too far and they in the middle.
Dude u just proved my point this system is for highrated alliances
You mean rewarding players for progressing their accounts? God forbid! As I've said elsewhere, if you can't beat the team you are drawn against then why do you deserve the same reward/rating
Dude u just proved my point this system is for highrated alliances
No you’re just tone deaf tbh.
Alliances tank war ratings across ALL tiers to start lower and win their way up. So doing it in the off season doesn’t make sense. It’s been proven to be so.
Just ignore this season, play item free, and let yourself float to your equilibrium war rating. Matchups will be much better after that.
Nowadays, our matchmaking is so bad. Specially after the introduction of new map and nodes.
This is data of my alliance, This is our opponent team.
Please Stop matchmaking by comparing with war rating. In off season, war ratings can be reduced by loosing the wars,
Either stop redusing war rating in off season. Or You guys can match with the alliance prestige. Or . Matchmake with a new technique. Like, Alliance war count. Win percent. Or something else..
Kindly please please avoid these horror matchmaking..
You got to be kidding kabam, is unfair the war between my alliance and one of 41 million You have to fix that
Based on war rating, it’s as fair as can be. Or were you benefitting from Plat rewards for the past 10 seasons and can’t fight other alliances ranked in the SAME tier as you?
Yes, I'm aware that a two point difference is about as close as it gets. Despite your implied conclusion, I'm not moronic.
The issue here is not whether one alliance is more skilled than the other, unless you correlate alliance prestige with skill, but let me try to posting it in a way that then make sense.
The example is that a sunday league team that wins 50% of their matches, suddenly gets paired with a professional team, because they also happen to have won 50% of their matches.
Despite what Hollywood may have given you the impression of, no, the Sunday league team doesn't win by sheer pluck and a clever game plan.
So my complaint is, while obviously alliance prestige playing into matchmaking had flaws, at least it did attempt to minimize matches that were grossly unbalanced, power-wise.
They don't give a Sunday league team millions of £ for their wins though do they.
Only 1 set of rewards in MCOC wars. You seem to imply you are entitled to the same prize as much bigger Alliances because account size shouldn't be a factor which is not how the game works.
Act 6 doesn't scale based on your account size. Why should wars?
You both ended in Gold 3 last Season and have the same war rating. What’s the issue? Can’t beat an alliance ranked in the SAME reward bracket and have the SAME war rating?
If matchmaking is done off prestige then you end up with the result that we previously had: smaller alliances vaulting large alliances in the rankings without actually having to beat them. To use my alliance as an example, we're ~30m or so and around 9.5k prestige and we fight T2 wars. Two seasons ago we were sitting happily in P1, only fighting alliances with a similar prestige/size to us, and you could argue that we had an inflated position because we're not coming across the 45m alliances full of R3 6* defences. Our alliance was the highest rated alliance that NoName, who won a couple of seasons ago, fought (obviously they beat us), but there's no way that it is fair that you can top the leaderboard without facing the best the world has to offer.
Ultimately, this change will probably hurt us, but if we maintain P1 it's because despite our smaller alliance size, it's because we beat the big boys and the smaller alliances who are trying to play for big stakes like us; if we don't make it, well, we'll grow.
There’s a TWO point difference in war rating. That’s as fair as it can be.
If your alliance is really skilled and deserves the win, you can win it by dying less than the opponent.
If you can’t win, then what are you complaining about? Lol
Okay, are you for real?

This system will too, in time. Now is just the phase at which your overly inflated war ratings will backfire against you and you get matchups against stronger alliances due to it.
Dude when people start they dont have 5 stars and some people dont like spending money and progressing takes time, war helps a lot with that
So you want people who just start getting a chance at rank up materials for rank 3 6*s?
Matchmaking has beem broken for many seasons, this is the first war of a new season which won't make or break your entire season.
As it was before alliances with 35 million rating may have been stuck in gold 3 constantly fighting alliances with 35 million rating as well. Rewards in gold 3 won't help progress an account much when its already over 1+ million rating.
This new war matchmaking will help distribute rewards to those accounts deserving of them and who can actually use them
You've only showed that for the last few seasons you were getting rewards you shouldn't have. The alliance your now matched with is clearly stronger and thus deserving of better rewards. Why should you get the same rewards or better than alliances that you can't beat
@xNig , @Mauled Oh. Maybe you guys are right. But Bros, they are double of our alliance, maybe I can do, but not all my family can't. Few are new , few are learning, few are busy, few are talented. It's a mixed multinational Alliance. We felt this so bad. And I shared behalf of them. Thanks.

if you are at the same war rating as them, it means that you are supposed to be able to handle them. Unless everyone in the alliance left in the off season, then there really is no excuse

Quite rightly you will now match someone on war rating only - look at the global list and u will see who has what rating, so should not be a surprise
