Inhumans live on Moon in and they are born like normal people, with no extra abilities. To unlock them, they have to go through a process of iniciation, when they are basically put into a chamber, where they are exposed to "Terrigen mist", which unlocks their powers. It is worth to add that this "Terrigen mist" is lethal to normal people without the Inhuman gene

It has no effect on humans. Though it is lethal to mutants, hence the Inhumans vs X-men storyline.

only on the earth, and that's because they weren't able to purify crystals from the kree metal, inhumans on the moon have pure crystals; also, in the fifth season of agents of shield it's shown that the terrigen mist doesn't do anything to normal humans (the scene whene Flint get exposed to the mist with some other guys) ^_^

that’s because they were in the future with the Kree. Let’s not forget Coulson’s hand and Trip.

again, that was only because of the Diviner's metal still in the crystal, and only for coulson: crystals created in Afterlife were contaminated with kree metal and retained its petrify power; in Trip's case the mist released from the Diviner didn't do anything to him because it was pure, and he "took damage" only when he crushed the crystal with a kick and received a Diviner splinter in his belly ^_^
