War rating and prestige is the biggest factor of an alliance is stronger than yours. But that also doesn’t necessarily mean they are more skilled, they could be legitimately overall more lucky on their pills.
Their alliance rating has nothing to do with any indications. People could have all their 1* to 4* maxed out inflating their alliance rating.
Also to pass people in a leaderboard you should face them. So since they are right there with you...
What is funny is this matchup actually supports us that are showing that this system is fine as opposed to the other system. Under the old system this matchup could still have happened because the alliance prestige is so close, proving as some of us has been saying about how easy it is to keep a low prestige but still have a massive alliance rating (not war rating)...
The only way to make it fair in a way that GW and rap and the others who dont understand basic fairness principles would be to limit how how an alliance can go based on their alliance rating, and set a floor. For instance a 15m alliance can do silver to gold 3, because if you use prestige and alliance rating it means that bad alliances can beat good alliances in the ratings, and that is unfair to the good alliances. The problem is that a system that locks alliances to tiers based on their alliance ratings or prestige is inherently unfair to the more skilled but smaller alliances.
So once again this system is the fairest for the greatest number of people.

the 700 difference in prestige indicates they "might" possibly have better and stronger defenders. I know this might look intimidating at first, but we have beaten alliances with prestige over 10k and also have lost to alliances with lower prestige than ours as well. so yeah you need to beat this alliance with skills and boosting up, plain and simple.
Also, i used to be in a G1/G2 10k prestige alliance before. They were never a P4 alliance and never pushed for it. but last season they finished P4 possibly due to their outstanding AWD and somewhat "decent" skills. but based on the old system, they always finished in G1 or G2 and they didn't have any problem with it, cause they never pushed war.
That t5/t6 bubble is a separate problem. Clear all three bosses in t6 and get wins and losses for an easy Gold One. Struggle in t5 for maybe partial clears and you could be knocked down to barely gold 2. It’s hard to think t8 alliances (one of my sister clans) should have more season points than mine having half time in t5. Maybe the multiplier should scale more to reward teams for making it to higher tiers based off the war rating.
