Why do you rank up a champ?

So with the introduction of Thronebreaker, there has been some discussion as to wether you should rank someone up to get the title, but in general why do you rank someone?

Its a mix between completing content and ranking for fun. I am not yet at a stage where I can take up champs to r4 and r5 for fun yet.

In general mostly because of resources expiration, as I never get champs I want

Generally champs I rank up have some sort of use, but I’m at a stage where I can just take them up for fun. Useful rank ups take priority though

I honestly do it to test out champs for my offense.

It is 80% for offence, 10% for defence, and 10% because I just like a champ. Like my r5 Nebula.
But generally I pick good defenders that are also very usefull in offence like Doom, Thing, Warlock, Elsa, Domino.
Being a low alliance tier player we don`t look too much to diversity.

Usually it’s for a specific role/quest. I ranked up G2099 for terminal velocity and flow wars, for example.
At the moment most of my rank ups are very luxury because I have T5B in the overflow. Depending on what T5CC I get from finishing Act 6 exploration next week I’m taking Massacre to R2, and I’m on the fence between Sorcerer Supreme, Dormammu and Longshot to rank up.

When you reach a certain stage it’s not such a big deal to rank a champion.

I’m not ranking up for defense anymore. At this point it has to be an offensive utility filler.
