Ghost Rider not incinerate immune in AQ

Why is Ghost Rider not incinerate immune in AQ Map 6? Human Torch just killed my GR in 10 seconds without landing a hit. No way he could do that unless GR still takes incinerate damage from him. What is going on?

Nova flames is the issue. Thank you. Obviously that’s a bug that Kabam need to fix. If a champ is incinerate immune, then they should be incinerate immune, nova flames shouldn’t matter.

Never has been a problem with Colossus for example. He takes basically zero damage clearing HT on those nodes

If a champions is incinerate immune, it is incinerate immune.

Nova Flames and not incinerate effects. They are passive DoT that deal energy damage.

No, that’s not the way Nova Flames should work. They should be tied to his incinerate rebuffs. For it to work the way you describe which it obviously currently does makes no sense whatsoever. But thanks to everyone for pointing this issue out.

I advice you to read champion's abilities, and not assuming how something should work based on the name of it.

Instead of "Nova Flames", let's change the same to "Maw Slaps". Maw Slaps is a passive ability that deal energy DoT.

Now, why do you think Ghost Rider should be immune to the Maw Slaps? He isn't immune to energy damage, isn't it? You don't see Maw Slaps dealing incinerate damage, or even be incinerate effects at all, do you?

All it says is that Nova Flames retain the same properties as his Incinerate debuffs, for his abilities. While at the same time it states that they deal Energy damage, and confirming once again that are not incinerate effects.

It says nothing about being incinerate effects. In fact it states the opposite.

Same happens with Black Widow Clair Voyant. If you use her and get to the incinerate immune phase HT still shreds her with those blue nova flames. It's because they are mystics. Annoying since alot of the incinerate immune champs are mystic.

Your issue in AQ is the node on Torch. I assume its a map 5 mini. At 7 shoulders he goes into nova form which he gets from you hitting him as a mystic and raising his temperature. GR isba terrible matchup for AQ Torch because Torch can automatically go into nova form. Colossus would be fine as he won't raise Torch shoulders or temperature as he's not a mystic

It's not just because they are mystic but the mystic class is weak against energy damage. They aren't the only ones though.

Kabam isn't going to say anything. Nova Flame damage is energy damage. All mystics are weak to energy damage. Also, mystics give energy damage which fuels HTs smoulders. If you are hitting into HTs block or hitting him directly, you are increasing his temperature and smoulders.

There isn't any bug and both interactions are working exactly as intended. Just because you don't believe something should be the way it is, doesn't mean it's wrong.

Nova flames don't work differently against mystics.

Torch gains smolders differently against mystics as every hit will had 1 smolder. The torch in AQ states he enters nova at 7 smolders and max temp which is your issue.

This is clearly an intentional interaction

Try to duel GR against Torch and the fight will be fine as he won't be abke to activate his nova flame without incinerates on you or his lvl3

It does not. It says they are treated as incinerate debuffs IN REFERNSE TO HUMAN TORCHES ABILITIES, meaning they gain the bonus damange, and are used to trigger other HT abilities. They are not treated as incinerates outside of that.

Nova Flame Passives are treated as Incinerate Debuffs for all of Human Torch's abilities.

There is also a specific dev note on the champion spotlight

Dev Notes: Nova Flame Passives deal the same damage and last for the same duration as the Incinerate they’re replacing. In addition to the effects listed here, they can also bypass an Opponent’s immunity to Incinerate. And with the number of Incinerates Johnny is able to apply in a short period of time, it’s possible to build up a lot of Power Stings very quickly.
