Let me put it this way. If you see the single r3 requirement has high, you're probably not in the target audience for Thronebreaker. The actual intended target for Thronebreaker are players who would not blink an eye at that requirement. If it is a stretch for any player, they are not just outside the target audience, they are way outside the target audience.
That's completely false, I know many thronebreakers who would still "blink an eye" at r3-ing a 6 star.

If you know a Thronebreaker who a) didn't already have their first r3 when Thronebreaker was announced and b) had to think about whether to rank up their first r3 to get Thronebreaker, then I stand by my statement that they were probably not in the target audience for Thronebreaker status.

I did not say all Thronebreakers think r3 rank ups are trivial. I said anyone who gave it a second thought to get their first r3 was probably not in the target audience. They could of course be the kind of people that agonize over every decision they make in life, but that's uncommon. The target audience for Thronebreaker were two kinds of players. The first already had rank 3s. They would of course not blink an eye at the requirement, because they already had it. The second group did not yet have their first r3, but that was entirely by choice because they were just sitting on the resources thinking they didn't need to make an r3, so there was no need to do one yet. Those people would almost certainly pull the trigger on their first r3 when Thronebreaker was announced, or alternatively sit on it because they were waiting for Cyber weekend but still not really give it a second thought.

I currently have 11 R3s and could easily take up at least another 10 champs if not 15+ before getting into pretty questionable rankups

Thronebreaker is a stretch for some. It is a trivial accomplishment for others. But I'm pretty sure your Thronebreaker trophy is in the bathroom being used as a toilet paper roll holder.

But why? R3's are still fairly rare in the game. We aren't ready for that progression point yet in the game.

They have been making it easier to get. And at some point it will cease to be useful as a remotely hard to pursue goal, and r4 will arrive. And the faster people want the current top, the faster the next higher rung will appear, and that rung will be much, much harder to get than R3 is now. And when r5 arrives, the next step after that isn't r6, it will be some fundamental shift in progress, like 6* champs were when they arrived. And whenever those shifts occur, there's always some progress you get to take with you, and some you leave behind. When 6* champs arrived, players had to start over. If they had hefty 5* rosters, they could continue to use those to earn 6* champs, and that did confer an advantage. But in all other respects, we all had to start over.

That might happen again, or it might not. How fast do you want to get to the point where we all have to find out?

Show us your 6* roster and what t5cc you have. There is almost no way you finished act 6 and dont have a worthy option. Everytime i see people say this and ask for their roster it almost always turns out what they mean is they dont have a ghost or corvus
My six stars are : falcon, ronin, vtd, storm, imiw, Morningstar, carnage, kingpin, rr, ds, and BB. There are some decent options but I don't think any of them are worth r3.

I mean, Morningstar is good but she takes too long to ramp up and I don't really enjoy that.
That may be true for a r1. A r3 however is much different. Trust me as the owner of one i place her above doom for a reason. She becomes such a beast its almost ridicilous at times

Uff. Im not at that lvl. We currently trying to limit our deaths to 30-40 per war. That should get us P2 easy but I guess not enough for P1 yet. Looking forward to battling you guys in the future 👍🏻

My first R3 was mainly made because of Thronebreaker. The one thing I’ve lacked for a long time is Havok and when I pulled him I took him up to R3 unawakened. He has filled a hole in my roster, the R3 covers the shortfall of being unawakened for me.
The other option I have is VtD but I’m going to wait for Book 2 and the new featured.

There is an argument to R3 someone for the title, but if you’re ranking a champ prematurely like I did, make sure they’re a champ you know you’re going to get a bit of use out of.

No, and they shouldn`t. This actually are 2 very good requirements. I haven`t achieved it yet. But will soon.

No way. I disagree with the requirement on principle, but i don’t think Kabam will back down from this one in the near future or ever to be honest.

I'm at 75% act 6 exploration, completion already done. I was lucy to gat a rank up and an awekening of the same tipe: Cosmic.
Sadly out of the 43 6* I got (not counting duped ones) just 3 are cosmic (no one duped): Carnage, Black Bolt and Gamora.
I'm nearer to form the second 2 cosmic catalyst rather than forming one of another class.
In all honestly I'm not doing act 6 anymore couse I'm really disapointed (abys completion done). Mybe I will do it some day

Can I be thronebraker? Yes I can
Would I like to r3 one of the 3 cosmic champions I got? hmm as my first r3 I'm not so sure

You can get more than the 3x 2k Shards from Incursions ... the first ~15 stages of highest level are adding another ~2k every reset (month).

I have opened 3 6 stars this month 400 away from my 4th. Averaging about 3-5 a month now clearing everything and dupes etc.
