Why can my other alliance members join a assigned battle group?

People I didnt assign to the battle group we’re able to join the battle group which was specifically picked and maxed at 10 members. Why can others join and take assigned spots? This wasn’t the way it was a update ago? Is this a bug? Or is this a “new” feature.

    Stupidly, this is how it always has been... it would be nice if they couldn’t do that.

    Has it actually always been like this? What’s the point of the assignment feature if it doesn’t even block out people you didn’t assign!

    It was always that way. It is only a Recommended Assignment.

    What were to happen if a couple ppl really needed to switch, but there wasn’t any Officer available to go in and change it to allow it, then you'd be stuck.

    Makes sense, but then would wouldn’t a back up system make more sense? Like you have your 10 assigned members. 1 or 2 are busy that day so the first 2 in the back up join instead.
