But seriously, as someone who's completed Act 6 pre-nerf and explored 6.1 and 6.2 post-nerf, I can say that the difficulty has tremendously decreased. Sure, Act 6 is still challenging with its fair share of difficult bosses such as Sinister, Mordo, and Mysterio but at the same time, you're over-exaggerating the difficulty of these quests, not to mention the fact that you've left out several viable counters for the bosses in your original post. Your claim that one path costs about 1000 units is completely false. One path for exploration shouldn't really even cost 100 units unless you really mess up.
If you're spending that much on exploration per path, of course, it's going to seem like Act 6 is made for paying players only. However, since many of us F2P players have done the exploration, clearly it's you as a player that is the problem, not the content.
In any event, yes initial completion of Abyss is easier than 100% Act 6 (or at least it was pre-nerf, I haven’t gone back and checked). Maybe that’s why you get better rewards from 100% act 6 than you do from Abyss completion.
There are a bunch of answers besides what you listed, and it’s entirely possible to do many if not most paths either itemless or close to it. I find it interesting that in your write up you have a few counters marked as “needing skill.” I mean... yes? I would imagine that competence will be critical. I would recommend the controversial strategy of gitting gud.
