Red Mags Vs Electro

Hi,
I will come clean and admit I am not very knowledgeable with game and all it’s mechanics.

Can someone explain why I take so much damage fighting Electro using Red Magneto please.

Red mags of course has -90% shock damage and has energy based attacks.

Static shock deals energy damage. Not shock damage.
Additionally, it will trigger on contact hits. Although Magneto has energy attacks, they still make contact, so therefore they aren't projectile attacks.
