This is the worst 6* featured ever made

Title. This pool is so pathetically bad. However I opened a basic and got hit monkey so I’m not mad, thanks for saving me from a black bolt guys 🤣🤣🤣

Started off pulling trash just like I had with last featured that was loaded. Last month pulled MrF, GG for the 5th time and Terrax. Thought luck might change and pulled this beauty.

I guess when you are narrow minded and think only 2 or 3 of those champs can have an impact on someones roster, you would think it's trash. I count at least 12 champs that can impact someones roster unless you are atop the leader boards when means you probably have them already and every featured crystal will be trash because there isn't anything for you to get.
G2099/Spider Ham/Colossus/Ghulk/Kingpin/Star-Lord/IBom/Hood/Luke Cage/MS/Masacre/Magneto HoX and Stryfe are all viable champs for people with growing rosters and are targeting certain champs. And if you're chasing prestige, someone might be targeting that Silver Surfer pull or dupe.

Looking at one of your recent polls for rank-ups, you already have many of the champs that are in this pool so really your opinion is biased. It's not appealing to you because of that but for others that don't have many 6*'s, there are some good options. Don't judge the pool by your own roster but look at the big picture.

How are star lord or Luke cage going to impact someone’s roster in 2021?

Luke Cage is bleed immune and has power control and good damage. Star-Lord as a 6* will be great. Little ramp up but if duped, he does huge damage. Isn't that what people care about? Damage, damage, damage? Star-Lord is just over looked because of all the champs that have been added to the game. He's far from terrible.

I agree here , luke cage is a beast and still can tank an SP3, and also has that exhaustion debuff which reduces power.

So you’re telling me that you’re going to spend a minimum of 30K 6* shards for a duped 6* Starlord? I love him he was my first r5 4* and carried me through act 5 but that’s more than a little excessive. LC i also have fond memories of (map 6 hype) but unfortunately his time has really come and gone. I’m not saying these characters are bad, but they’re not someone you eat a 50% markup to obtain. As are most of the champs in this featured

I buy the crystal that offers the best value for the shards at the time. If the value proposition is 5% better for the featured crystal than the basic (factoring in the higher cost) then that's the one I buy.

If your focus is exclusively on immediate gratification, this game will eventually grind you into dust. Almost everything that has gotten me to the progress point I am at now was the result of good long-term decision making, not lightning bolt magic. I don't just make lemonade out of lemons, I plant lemon trees.

Why did I rank up that Crossbones? Because for years now the wind has been blowing in the direction of content challenging rosters for champions with lots of different attributes. A champ that can proc furies at will, reduces ability accuracy, and never procs crits is an interesting combination of abilities, and in 2021 it is not about what you have in your roster, it is about what you don't have.

it's obvious no one will convince you otherwise. You're dead set on calling the crystal trash when it's not. It's trash for you but I guarantee there are more people who fine value in this crystal than don't.

This is the wrong way to look at the crystals. If they sold Star Lord for 15k shards, I wouldn't buy him. But he's not for sale at 15k shards. The crystal is for sale, and the question is whether or not it contains enough value to justify 15k shards. If you only see the crystal in terms of "hits" and "misses" then the crystal probably won't be seen as worth it, but that's a broken way to judge risk.

If a crystal contained only two champions, Cosmic Ghost Rider and Iron Man, for 15k I would buy it in an instant, and so would probably most people. But 50% of everyone who buys that crystal gets the dud. You can say after the fact that it wasn't worth it for them but that's a ludicrous way to look at how the world works. Decisions can't only be worth taking if you have a crystal ball and know the future. That crystal is worth buying *before* you know the outcome, because the *value* in the crystal is higher than 15k (or rather, most people would judge it as such). It is worth the risk of the dud.

If there was another crystal that contained CGR and Yondu, I would choose that crystal over the first one. But why? Both contain one champ worth more than 15k and another worth less. So the odds of "winning" are still 50/50 so what's the difference? The difference is that I value Yondu more than Iron Man, so the value of the second crystal is higher. It is just that simple: it isn't about whether the champions in the crystal are "worth it or not." It is about overall value.

I totally get where you’re coming from but I’m afraid I must disagree. First, for the record I respect the crossbones rankup. I’ve thought about doing it myself for a while just never got around to it. However, he’s more of a novelty champ to me, and is not someone I would spend 15,000 6* shards for. Second, to your point about it being more important to focus on what you have than what you don’t have, I completely agree. Where we can’t see eye to eye anymore is this featured offering something that fills a roster hole. What’s more, there are plenty of champs in the basic pool that would fill roster holes for many people. Sure, the opportunity for a specific champ is lower than the featured. Sure, the number of “true duds” in this featured is probably lower than more than one past featured. Sure, the basic has more than its fair share of unplayable garbage. But if your roster is big enough to buy this featured, you probably don’t want/need most of its champs anyway. I’ve been over why I strongly dislike this featured in detail and honestly think I’ve contributed way too much mental energy to this topic so I’m probably going to stop now lol

Like everyone else I'm always on the hunt for high performing champs, the CGRs and the Ghosts out there. They would be my first choices. In close second is any first time awakening of those high performing champs. But I'm an arena grinder: in third place is *any* new champ. Every new champ is arena points, and in the arena a brand new Howard the Duck, a brand new Mephisto, and a brand new G2099 are all worth exact the same.

In fourth place is any first time awakening. Even if the champ is a dud, you never know when a champ will get buffed in the future, and there's a huge difference between awakened and unawakened because sig stones are easier to get than awakening gems or natural dups. In fifth place is any dup of a champ I'm actually using. More sig levels is more sig levels. And then in dead last place is a dup of a champ I'm not using, and unlikely to be using any time soon. For me that's the ultimate strike out.

At the moment I have 71 6* champs. Almost half of all the champs in the basic crystal are therefore going to be dups. Some would be at least decent dups of champs I use or first time awakenings, but a large number of dups would be of the dead last kind: dups that increase the signature level of a champ I don't even use. That's a pretty high strike-out rate.

In the current featured, I lack all six new champs, so they would all be new. I also lack eleven others. Six I possess, but unawakened. That leaves just one champ that I currently own and have awakened - Hood. And Hood is in the garage being rebuffed by the devs, and we saw a glimpse of what the rework is likely going to be. Adding sigs to Hood has a decent chance of being very useful in the medium future.

So for me, there are actually *zero* strike outs in the featured. If you think about champs in terms of "great" and "duds" there are more duds, but I have more ratings in between where the featured is better than the basic very often. So I'm actually currently torn between the basic and the featured, even though my roster has reached the point where both choices are valid.

The featured is always totally based off roster, but my statements reflect how ive seen these champs used in the multiple alliances my accounts are at.

The 3 "huge" pulls are g99, Ibom and Surfer. They are the jackpots. Roster changing, great for war, high prestige, all that jazz.
Then we have HOX and Colossus, and MS. Debatably roster helping, and are useful for certain niches, but a top runner for relatively few. Spiderham can be in this category because he is freaking fun to play.
The rest are never ever going to be used more than their r5 variants, either because, like LC, you need the sig ability, or SL, need the dupe , gulk (very niche). Hood is mainly a synergy piece and actually used very less. Kingpin is nice, but worthy of 15k? highly doubt it, and i have him r2 as well.

That said, this featured is bashed so much because it is in the shadow of the previous featured. No featured can be as good, and it is a further letdown because of OG champs they introduced are pretty meh (SL, Thor). There was lot of anticiaption for a 6* hype, blade or stark, whose chance should hopefully come soon. People are spoilt from the previous featured so hence the complaining.

The points you made to justify those champs.... are not right. They are just less terrible misses than the GG and dorms of last featured. Nice to have... but not worth 15k. Feels like the old featured 6*.

agreed, which is why featured is totally on roster. The quality of the pool may be lower, but might net you new champs. A very acceptable reason if you arent really looking for a pool of champs in the basics, and the main goal is to expand your roster further.

As DNA pointed out, star lord alone or crossbones alone is not worth 15k shards, but they are in a crystal which gives at lease 50% chance for a decent champ. That's the gamble you go for in the game. Even last featured had so many duds, but people still went for it even at the last minute spending units because it gave them a chance for CGR or Apoc. So, you cannot value the featured only based on the duds that you may pull.

this is such a garbage take and you know it. the "balance" in this pool is nonexistant and people saying otherwise aren't understand that you need multiple insane champs at the top, some terrible champs at the bottom, and some meh in the middle. that's what makes a featured actually worth a gamble but most of these top champs are meh and not worth an extra 5K shards

You don't really need champs at the top and champs at the bottom in the crystal. Its actually the inverse: you need a playerbase where some people want Luke Cage and some people want Thor. It doesn't matter what you want or what I want. There are lots of people who want the champs in the current crystal. There are even lots of people who didn't care for the previous one. If the crystals were designed to target one kind of person who wants specifically one kind of champ, everyone else would be underserved. The players who don't care as much about power and just want to collect champs, or the players who already have most of the powerful champs and want to fill holes in their roster, or the players who just have personal favorites that defy conventional wisdom, would never get what they want. And those players are probably not a tiny minority, but actually combined are the majority of players.

While there are competitive elements to the game and there is content that requires strong champs to complete, the fundamental foundation for the game is a collection game that encourages people to collect a roster of Marvel champions. It can be mindful of the performance needs of the players, but it cannot ignore the segment of the players that plays just as much to collect champions as to max rank the most powerful. The crystals have to incorporate that desire into them just as much as they do the needs of the performance driven players.
