New Arena Structure Feedback

In the last arena cycle before the change, I completed 3* and 4* Featured, 4* Basic, and 5/10 Milestones in 5* Featured.
This resulted in 395 Units from approx. 10.6M points across those 4 arenas. (Frankly, if I'd had the inkling I could've done summoner trials for another 65 units. Bringing my potential income to 460 Units from just under 11M points.)
Now for the new arenas. 4* Trial requiring 2M points is easy, 4-5 sessions. If I go through the two 5* arenas enough to farm the same 11M points I got in the previous cycle, I would only get 260 Units, nearly cutting my total in HALF.
If I wanted to farm a comparable number of units (again, assuming I complete the 4* trial completely) with a balanced approach to both arenas, I'd have to grind approximately 24.5M points, well more than DOUBLE my previous cycle.
And these numbers all exist while remembering that the two 5* arenas SHARE THE SAME CHAMPION POOL. So even if I wanted to increase my grinding (I don't really, I was looking forward to less grinding), I can't without spending the same units I'm trying to farm. Obviously this shared lockout is going to affect when/where I use my 5 and 6* champs and I don't have a full handle on the most efficient way to do it, so its possible that there's some combination of milestones that will slightly increase my income, but in no way will it bridge the gap between what I fairly regularly earned in the old arena structure and what I'm likely to earn in the new structure.
I'm not sure what the solution is here. Increased points/multipliers, reduced cooldowns, maybe having separate lockouts for each 5* arena. But as it stands, I'm looking at a Unit income that's basically being cut in half.
P.S. Another factor to be considered here is the amount of arena chips being farmed. It seems to me this new structure is based around fewer total arenas being fought, which means fewer arena chips being generated, and in turn fewer arena crystals being purchased, further reducing Unit income.
This change is discouraging and might lead to me just playing less. The game is getting to be more of a grind for less fun and this game was a way for me to have some fun before with my kids. Now, not so much. They've mostly quit and I might just have to follow or at least cut my time a lot. Life can be enough of a grind on its own.
Pros:
-Greater Milestone & Ranked Rewards
-3 Arenas instead of 5 Arenas
-Aggressive AI
Overall the buff to rewards were fantastic! You can now pick up the basic/featured 4* from milestones which is a amazing improvement. Along with grandmaster crystals with will help a lot with the ISO drought. 3 Arenas instead of 5 is self explanatory, less arenas mean more focus. Aggressive AI makes arena fun and fast. That’s all with pros and they are quite great!
Now cons...
Cons:
-Grind is longer
-Death Matches
Although it seems like Pros out last the Cons, they really don’t. The greater milestone rewards contrast this with 16.5 MILLION for all the brackets in the 6* basic and 6* featured. This causes the average ftp to get a ton less units. Death matches have always been a thing in MCOC, but now using 5* 3/45 or 4* 5/50 have become much more dangerous due to the meta changing with 6* Rank 3s (And soon R4s...) .
Conclusion: Although this change is more rewarding and better to focus on the 3 arenas split. The grinding and death matches are too great to make these feel like a improvement.
Solutions:
-Decrease the timer by a few percent for 5*/6* champs, it could be as little as 10-25% and it would help shorten the grind time a substantial more.
-Revert Arena, worst option in my opinion as it would stump the reward increase.
-Bring back the old arenas and keep the current, this one is highly unlikely. But it would truly
be a golden change.
-Increase the multiplayer to 4x or higher. Would lower the grind a lot.
Those are my thoughts. I would give the change 5.2/10. Have a good day and thank you for reading this!
I seriously don’t know what Kabam’s intentions were, but they definitely haven’t improved arenas.
Some feedback on the fights....
Taking in 1/25 6* in early rounds (3x multiplier but not Thanos/Kang territory) I'm getting matched up with a silly amount of 3/45 6*s or very annoying 5/65 5*s.
Keeping in mind the vast majority of my 6*s are meme level trash, this is just like salt in the wound.
Taking my duped 6* Jugs against someone's 5/65 Doom or Omega isn't a fun or exciting use of my time. It just reminds me how bad my 6* pulls have been.
BTW, can you stop with the jerk move of dropping in Omega & Elsa Bloodstone with guys running suicides? Its getting annoying. My last fight was against a 2/35 Elsa and I was at 30% health by the time her degen stopped.
I'm done being you free beta tester. Holler when you get your stuff together.
Everything else? Yeah.. Revert it
Yes, I picked up a 4* basic a few days early, but that isn't the reason behind the grind. Most people will agree that units take priority for most arena grinders, and the return is pretty appalling when compared to the previous setup.
In my opinion, an overhaul of rewards is necessary or a return to the previous structure (which no one seemed to have any issue with).
No point in using my lower star champs anymore, so all the grinding burden is carried by 4 and 6 stars.
Fewer low-hanging rewards available - I used it be able to do 8 quick fights total in the 2, 3 and 4 star arenas for 40 units. Now I can't.
Matchmaking in the new 6 star arenas makes even the earlier fights longer and more tedious.
And I'm already thronebreaker. I think players who are trying to grind milestones to get to thronebreaker are going to have an even worse experience.
I have the roster to get all milestones but have zero desire to do it.
playing a hour or two i already anticipated that i will need to give more hours into the Arena to achieve the milestones. it it noticeable that a player that don't have a stacked collection of much max ranked stats as much as possible will not be able to reach 16,5Million milestone mark under the duration of three days arena. Sure is understandable why the milestones was extended as the game team added Grandmaster shards to give us players more chance to acquire a rare RNG chance of a 5* champion, but doesn't justify the amount of time a player need to put in.
it's also noticeable that it's more of an forcing because you can't achieve 33 million (16,5 million points in 5* arena and 16,5 million point in 6* arena) under the duration of 3 days timer is simply just not enough therefore a player will be forced to pick one and only grind that (Not to be mixed with the wording forced by KABAM or something as it's more of an self decision that you as an player are forced to decision/decide/self-reflect how to make your time valuable)
For example in the new arena structure- if one pick a 5* arena then you are most likely to be forced, even though you're not forced unless you don't want to pass those milestones, to grind in that 5* arena under three days timer. SO THAT'S A HUGE BACKDRAW. because the amount of the remaining arena timer will not be enough to even try to grind for the other milestones at 4* arena and in 6* arena unless you as an player have a very stacked collection of many many max ranked champions then that's good for you, but bad for us that don't have the same so there's a huge gap here.
In the old arena structure it is more than doable and more option to offer a player to make a decision of whom in those arena star rarity would a player want to spend with their time on and make that time feel valuable. Take me for example - it takes me roughly 27-28hours under the duration of 3 days arena timer that I can finish 2* arena to 4* featured milestones. If there's still some times left despite cleared all the milestones in 2* to 4* featured arena then i can make another decision if i want to put more time on trying a few milestones more in 5* arena even though i might not have enough collection to collect the remaining milestones from start to end in 5* arena, but at least i can get some resources from it.
I strongly recommend to retreat this new arena structure and put back the old one unless you give the new arena structure another makeover on how to further improve it so we can still get the milestones, but then otherwise i don't really know what to say than to revisit for an improvement and put back the old one for the time being.
the latest arena update regarding the streak formula that it's actually a bug and not intended, but it was left for too long and an decision was made to not do anything about it and that latest arena update was the answer, but the problem was that we faced too many end-game tier champions nonstop with an very high excessive PI value that exceed PI value of 3x of our own arena champion. We suggested to lower the PI value cap down to 1x or 2x to somewhat make that arena update doable to play and I am aware that this has nothing to do with this new second arena update regarding arena structure change, but i wanted to point out that the game team reverted the change too quick and i would recommend to not do the same with this arena structure update and face the problem to tackle it and improve it.
Kabam, just be upfront with your player base that you have no ideas that will benefit anyone with anything relevant to player growth besides investing $$ (which is ultimately your right to do as a developer—this I will never argue with, thought the “transparency” you tout is non-existent in this regard). I consider myself a middle of the road player—1.1 mil roster, 9700 prestige, 24 6*s—and nothing you’ve changed in the last year(s) has positively impacted the game in any meaningful way for me. QoL updates aside, every update you push out is either another slap in the face or a hot mess of bugs, glitches, and shenanigans. To say that these new arenas are positive in any way to anyone besides the top 5% of players is an outright lie.
