I have a CMM at r3 already and I really don't see awakened / unawakened as being much of a discussion at all - her primary motivation for me is that ultra high damage she produces - if you have a nick Fury then it's CMM all day long. Far surpasses Venoms damage, sig 0, sig 1, sig 200 - all the same damage.
He/she has corvus as a 5* for damage, and does what cmm does better. Venom is more unique and for sure has more utility than CMM. His damage in comparison isn’t close, but it’s sufficient and ticks down the opponent with his bleeds if not immune, fine without the bleeds too. His access to armor breaks are easier and he’s just so versatile. Love my r5 5* venom, i used a 5* generic gem on him, though he doesn’t need it i generally love the champ.
Access to armor breaks are easier? You have to heavy, which is either a heavy counter (lots of champs make it hard/impossible) or parry heavy (stun immune/tenacity/some form of shrug off are relatively frequent).

All she has to do is hit. She can even do it into the block if she wants to.

I like my venom too, but I wouldnt imagine saying he has "for sure more utility". Just different utility.

I think it's fair to say venom has more utility just bcuz he does more things. But that's not necessarily a blow to cmm bcuz while she does less stuff, everything she does do she does with excellence. Venom also does everything he does with excellence, but some things at a slightly lower caliber. For example, if you're good at intercepting, cmm is undoubtedly better at armor breaking, but both are still very dependable in that area. I'd still take venom over unawakened cmm tho and frankly, even if she was awakened, I'd still consider both options

It really depends on what your needs are and where you are in the game since they both serve different purposes. E.g., do you have other champs that already have overlapping abilities with either of them? And which other champs do you typically use that might be useful from a synergy standpoint?

B/c CMM is unduped, I'd lean to Venom. And CMM is one of my favorite champs in the whole game.

I accidentally went falcon. Venom is good but in non spider match ups you need to parry mlm until 17%. Falcon is really good except that cool down on red wing. Nick Fury is great except you need to throw a couple specials until 5 charges and even then they fall off. Real Nick is much better. However Prof X is just a couple heavy's and you're gtg.

Given both unduped, I prefer Venom over CMM.
