Can somebody please explain the help system to me?

I'm trying to understand how the help system works. When somebody hits the help button, how much gets

taken off the wait time per number of stars a champion has.

Well that just left me with more questions than answers. I'm more confused about that help system now than I was before I made this post.

From what I’ve noticed on 5/6* is the timer seems to go down 5 minutes for every help hit. From that old post though it sounds like it automatically goes down a certain amount every x hours whether people hit help for you or not. Also sounds like you can use iso to level up champs and reduce the timer, but I’ve never tried that
