Can someone explain this ? I hope this changes.

I REALLY REALLY hope they change up the arenas from what they have right now because what good are 1 and 2 and 3 Star champions or even 4 Star champions if you can’t sell them and can only use them until they are replaced by 5 Star or 6 Star ? The way they had it before, every level of player was getting units or champions if they worked hard and grinded it out. As it is now, I only have 8 - 5*’s that are Rank 5 —— & I only have 8 - 6*’s and they are leveled up on Rank 1 but not Rank 2 yet.
Now here is my logic: I have 46 Rank 5 - 4*’s
and I can hit the milestones on the summoner trials but then it jumps straight to the TWO ( YES, TWO ) arenas that you really need a bunch of Rank 5 - 5*’s and/or Rank 2 ( or above ) 6*’s !!!! So it’s really rough on mid level players like me and MANY MANY more players who have spent a little money each week or month over the years
Also, what good are 1*’s, 2*’s, and 3*’s if you can’t sell them and you have from 5 to 8 - Rank 5 - 5*’s or Rank 2 - 6*’s ????
Basically the 1’s, 2’s, & 3’s are worthless ( unless you are just starting, but they still become useless very quickly ) because you can’t sell them and you wouldn’t try to use them when you have stronger champions. Also, the 46 - Rank 5 - 4*’s that I have and the other 111 - 4*’s that I have not taken to Rank 5 are completely USELESS after I hit the milestones on the ONE arena that I can actually grind out and get some units.

I don't think this is what you would like to hear. I have

• five 6-Stars rank 1
• fourteen 5-Stars rank 4
• three 5-Stars rank 3
• twenty one 4-Stars max rank

and I need about 120 rounds to get a 4-Star champ in the 6-Star featured arena.
So, it is doable.

I do agree, I will not be able to do this week in week out though.

I just hope it’s something close to the old ones where you can actually use all your champions. I loved doing them when I had nothing to do.

Which is deplorable due to the fact that it is 2021 not 2017. They regretted making the rewards so high in 2017 and decided to nerf them four years later. The game has progressed to the point where this is balanced, well accepted and anything less is not acceptable. Can we get 6* champions from arena by grinding for a very long time and using thousands of units that we will not be able to get back so easily because anyone with less than 85 six stars is going to be negatively effected in terms of unit gain? Yup. Does something need to be fixed? Absolutely.

I mostly regret the lower units. A lot of content needs unit investment for average f2p - Variants and 7.2 usually eat couple revives. I know that in 2017 the numbers seemed too high, but at the time, 5.2 was the hardest content to beat. Now we have a lot more, including Unit-pit of Legends, also called Abyss. Lot of people need Abyss to get TB

Thing is you can’t really say 2017-2021 with any great relevance. The difference between any normal resource and units is that units does not have a growth or reduction in value.

Units have remained the same price in game since launch, $100 for 3100 units. With some variation in offers, $5 monthly for 700 odd or whatever. But it’s stayed the same over the years. There is not inflation with units, it still buys you proportionally the same stuff.

This isn’t a normal resource like 4*’s, which 5 years ago were being sold for 2500 units, or $60-70, 4* value started off highest in game. As high as 6* are now, and then dropped over time. So you can’t really say oh it’s been 2017-2021 and units have reduced. If kabam regretted making it so high in 2017 why would they nerf it now?

For better or for worse, and whatever your opinion on the arena is: this change has been made for the future of the game. Last time they changed the arena was 4 years ago. This change is likely intended for close to that again.

This change is not meant to be good for everyone now, it is meant to be grown into. It’s encouraging people to grow 6* rosters. Whether or not you like this currently, I personally don’t, that is how it’s intended

I personally, am not the biggest fan of the arena. It works for me because I have enough 6* to do milestones in 3 rounds. But I also see that people stuck in the middle with mainly 5* just aren’t going to be able to grind until they build their 6* roster up. I agree that it sucks for them, and I don’t think the arena changes are positive currently.

But what actual solution is there? There needs to be the same amount, or close to it, of units as before for game balance. There needs to be a 6* basic and featured as that’s the direction the game needs to head. There needs to be at least one arena where 2* and 3* can be used, the 4* can be their own arena or the 4* can be used with them too.

So with 540 units to distribute between these arenas how would you do it? Would you make more arenas with less units? Would you put less in one?

If you put milestones lower down in the 6* arena, you’re gonna have people getting all the unit milestones one run, which is game breaking. If you have too many arenas, you’re going to end up having 100 units in each arena and people running 5 arenas. Which is part of what the changes aimed to deal with.

I honestly think this change is one that while it is negative now, it’s the best of a bad situation. 6* arena needed to be introduced, and it couldn’t just be added alongside what we already had, or the units would have decreased for what we already had. It shows that this change is for the future of the game, and once you get a handful of teams of 6*, your progress is going to shoot up dramatically. With the game making the shift to 6*, this is a change that has the future in mind.

The one thing I think should be changed, is the 3* and 4* featured milestone. I’ve said it before in a different thread but there is no point gating that behind 50+ 6*, or a hundred round grind for lower players. Give people a 3* and a 4* to work for, it’s not gamebreaking.

Adding 150 extra units per 3 days, would be.

You made excellent points but the part about "encouraging people to grow their 6* rosters doesn't really make sense. To grow your 6* roster, you need to complete content and to complete content you need revives and potions which are easier to get with units. I was planning to finish a couple of Variants by the ending of this month which would have grown my 6* roster but that plan had to be shelved because I didn't have enough units for revives.
If that is their plan then they need to make more 6* shards available. While the availability has increased, it is still not enough to justify the arena changes. I'm Cav and can usually complete the Cav difficulty with only a couple revives or so spent on the hard bosses but I still open only one 6* a month. This month was the first time I opened 2 and I don't think I can repeat that miracle next month. At that rate, it would take me forever to build up the roster to be competitive in this new BS arena.
For the first time I'm actually thinking of taking a break from the game because I can't do the contents I want due to the lack of units. The new arena sucks. I don't care if it will benefit me 5 years from now because I won't be there to see it if they don't fix it.

The more I think about it, the more it feels like the purpose of arena is to slow down the mid range players. Unit grind was so easy that just about anyone could grind for 800 units per week. That is 3200 units per month just from milestones. Lets say it comes to 6000 units total from bc, milestone and other sources. That's an abyss path with moderate skill and a decent stash. From the devs POV, this is actually a bad case since people progress too quick without spending a dime. The current arena structure does not allow you to do this week in, week out unless you have a good 6 star roster.

From a longevity POV, I can see why they went this way. They cannot keep creating content to both mid range and end game players every month. This change will slow down the grind and make completing content longer as FTP or you pay for the units. Not everyone will do it.

@BitterSteel 6 star basic arena needs to go if Kabam ever decides to change this system. After 5 star featured, there is a need to 5 star basic and 6 star featured. Introducing 6 star basic did nothing for anyone except the players with already big 6 star rosters who want to fill a hole in the 6 star roster or dupe a champ. They are simply grinding for the featured champ over the weekend and basic champ over the week and getting both of them. 6 star basic needs to changed to 5 star basic arena with reduced milestones, only 4 and 5 star champs use and keeping the milestone rewards. Literally no one asked for 6 star basic arena, while everyone was asking for a 5 star basic and 6 star featured arena for months if not years.

A lot of people are missing one key factor that I was thinking about when I made this post. What good is it to have 1*s, 2*’s, 3*’s at all ?
They are useless. And 4*’s are useless once you have finished the ONE thing they are good for, which is the lower arena milestones. So a guy like me with almost 600 champs and only about 8 - 5*’s and a few 6*’s are even worth having. It doesn’t strike anyone odd that the “not being able to sell champions” came RIGHT BEFORE the fact that they cut out TONS of content that you could do with those champions….
Think about that. And read that again.
