Should I R2 a 6* or R5 a 5*?

I just opened up a 6* Sunspot! I have resources to bring a 6* to R2 or bring a 5* up to R5. I already have an R5 BVCV.

Don't take up your six stars. A case could be made for hulkbuster but rn with your account you have some more helpful five stars. Sunspot is ok but again, five stars. Void needs to be awakened don't bring him up. I would go with AA or venom. Venom will help you a lot in the variants and aa is mvp anywhere he goes. If you haven't done variant, focus on venom and sentinel.

Is the general recommendation to rank up 5*s first because of how expensive it is to rank and level up 6*s? I've noticed that I end up exhausting all of my ISO just to get a 6* to max level at R1.

I alternate it. Just finished r5 5* vulture and now gonna make r2 6* somebody and after that rotating back to r5 5*. It will grow my account with due time if I’m just being patiently buying those rank up materials from glory store and clearing monthly/side quests events. Just to make arena more easier.

The biggest issue I'm finding with 6*s is the amount of resources needed to take them to make level. Are higher tier ISO more available if I progress more story wise (I.e complete Act 6)?

I did find that Sunspot was pretty good for taking down Morningstar in the June side quest while my AA usually bleeds out. But AA has been amazing for taking down anything that isn't bled or poison immune.

A general rule of thumb is to try and rank up as many 5 r5s as possible first, then move on to 6*. 6* take 3 t5b whereas 5* take 2. Helps in building a diverse roster. 6* should only be considered if they are good without their sig, and fill a niche that you may not have filled (see: warlock,g99, apoc, doom, claire type champs).
