When did you endgame players stop focusing on 5 stars?

So I just opened my 48th 6 *. It was bishop, I guess he is good now??

Anyway, I have been pulling some good champs but they are 5 stars. Like namor and professor X. Thing is that I have no desire to use resources to take them to max rank.

Is this normal or am I crazy?

Unless it’s a champ that needs max sig or a new featured that’s very strong (Shang Chi, Hercules) I don’t really focus on 5*s since beating 7.1 maybe 7.2 (did initial abyss run first)

About 18 months ago. I don’t even open them anymore. I trade in 5* shards for 6* shards now in the sigil store. It’s an inequitable deal, but I have no need for 5*s and works out to 6k 6* shards a month.

Personally as soon as 6* rank up resources were released I started focusing on taking any good 6*s I had to r2, even unawakened.

Against the forums advice I took an unawakened Beardo to r2, and he became my MVP for the next 18 months.

I also still r5ed 5*s back then, but only if they were needed counters. Today I have more 6*s r2 or better than I do 5/65s.

When you have enough maxed 5* to enjoyably handle everything in the game, start focusing on 6*

Stopping is a mistake. Everything above is true - the buffs for act 7, etc.

The reality is that the 6-star pool is bloated and mostly can’t be controlled the way 5-star dual class crystals offer. Awakening gems barely exist and sig stones are rare.

I have an army of 5/65/200 champs, but just 7 rank 3 6-stars. I still routinely turn to my 5-stars for content, and I rank ones that fill niches in my roster or that I just like. Angela and Stryfe are coming up now, but Stryfe had to wait on 6-star Prof X going to 3/45. The iso costs are minimal early and variant has given me some rankup gems to minimize the catalyst impact. Sig stones are plentiful so focus on champs who merit being 200.

Not me using rank 4 five stars in 7.2

I still have champs that I don't have in 5 or 6* rarities (Doom, Ghost, BWCV, Guardian, etc.). If I pull those champs in 5*, I will 100% rank them up. I just took my 5* angela to r5, and I'm using her a lot

Having just completed my first run in 7.2 and being the proud owner of a single 6r3, I'd say that 5*s are still an important part of my roster even if the bonuses that 6* get in Act 7 has shifted my focus significantly. Me acquiring more and more t5cc resources also fuels that change. While I haven't formed one yet since I r3'd Doom and became TB, I'm 5-10% away from several that I'll put into champs like Apocalypse and Warlock, and there are also the SOP rewards that'll allow me to rank up even more champs.

I still rank up plenty of 5*s since there is a lot of content where they still really shine and they are easier to pump full of sig stones, but it definitely feels like Kabam has pushed the 6*s to the forefront in a similar way to how 5*s were pushed forth when Act 6 launched.

Luckily they didn't put a hard 6* gate on Act 7. I would have hated that. While I try to bring in 6* champs to get the boosts, I simply don't have enough great ones to cover everything that my 5*s can do.

I would rank up more 5* champs if they weren’t resources heavy.

I consider myself an end game player meaning 100% done with content , almost no items on content, prestige 13.300( working on surfer now for 13.6-13.7) map 7 ally etc etc.

My T5cc is overflowing and my T4cc cannot keep up so I can’t spare the resources.

However , a newer end game player I believe should still focus on 5*.Having 6* R3 champs/ R2 won’t be as friendly to you as having a bigger 5* roster. You can see this effect happening in SOP and if you tested the beta for 7.3 it’s a lot more specific counters.

I’m in a top 20 ally in AQ and everyone still uses their 5* in AQ and to tackle stubborn cav bosses.

It’s something you will regret later if you don’t have a deep enough roster, especially because you are seeing them counter the meta!

5star is used a alot by me atm, I am just at the point that it feels, that any 5star I r5 from now on is. Waste, if it makes sense

I still use my 5*s all the time but I don't "care" about getting new ones per say. I have 35 r5s and 7 r3s so my focus is now on 6*s.

Probably for the last 7-8 months personally. Don’t get me wrong, I still use my 5/65s for things quite often, I’m just not interested in ranking up any more of them. I have 8 6* r3s now with more coming soon probably, so a new 5/65 is meaningless at this point. So whilst I don’t care about 5* crystals anymore, I do still care about the 5/65 champs I already have, some of them at least anyway.

OP : with that roster my focus would be on 6*.

I’m rarely ranking up 5* from past 6 months
Content wise: I explored everything (even all carina challenges)
When to rank up a 5* : only if he/she gonna help in clearing the content or if that champ is needed for synergies.
It depends where you stand in the game. Every content requires specific champs. So if you feel that your current roster can handle that content without much problems then just leave ranking up a 5* to save few revives.
Further which 5* to focus (even if you wanted to rank up) : those who require higher signatures levels to be great.

At this point I’m holding 3 generic 5* awakening gems and 3 skill, 2 science and 1 tech gems from very long. They are eating dust because I already ranked up good 5* of each class already and most of my 5* are duped.

Hence you need to analyse your roster and situation where you stand in game at the moment before wasting resources as 6* champs requires same t4cc, t5b and t2a which might be in short supply when you need them for a 6*.

IMO act 7 makes it feel like you should be bringing 6*'s. The added fury buff and better block proficiency/adrenaline recovery is noticeable.
5*'s still do the job and can clear anything in the game but I feel like the further we get into act 7 the more you'll need the 6*'s

There’s only a select few 5*s that I’d rank, otherwise I’d wait for the 6* version. Im doing featured 5*s and if I get SC I’ll rank him. Otherwise.. unless there’s content that forces a rankup like SOP I wouldn’t do it

5* g99 gets used more than 90% of my 6*’s
