I have a funny feeling the slowing down time is just going to be the sp3 mini game.

I would think of it more like Shang chi’s perfect block / dex mechanic combined with slow time.

Hawkeye looks decent. It very much feels around the same level as the Karnak buff if I’m being perfectly honest. That’s not a bad thing, Karnak is pretty good after his buff. But I still struggle to see a place for Hawkeye

The thing that most annoys me about Hawkeyes buff is it feels like they took a creative direction that is…weird.

Hawkeye, the master of trick arrows who never misses, can miss and has two arrows. I mean…what? The buff doesn’t look bad but why does Hawkeye have slow?

I don’t know, it just feels like another buff where they introduced a ton of new abilities, and even mechanics, just to make him hit harder. And left the utility at a bare minimum. I don’t think Hawkeye is as lacking in this department as Guillotine or Thor Rags but still…

So initially I was really stoked after checking out the spotlight, now a bit less so but still see the potential depending on how some things function. I didn't realize initially how much of a hit the bleed potency took until comparing to the current form, the buffed version is a whole lot less potential per tick which matters quite a bit. Per tick you're now looking at about 1/4 of his current form (half as strong for twice as long) meaning this buff is going to come entirely down to how often crit bleeds occur.

If you don't see a crit bleed say half the time Hawkeye may be a worse champ than he currently is. The trade off seemed to be a lesser power control in exchange for significantly more damage, but that seems to be tied to landing crit bleeds and needing a longer fight duration to build up things like the fragility to enhance them. If it ends up being the case you land a crit bleed one of out every four or five specials then you're doing potentially less damage to go with lesser power control and what exactly? He's still a power drain and bleed champion only both of those are weaker unless RNG is in your favor, am I seeing that correctly or am I missing something? Pausing the bleeds is awesome, but only if the potency is up to par to be worthwhile. On further evaluation I went from really stoked to somewhat worried, I really hope it's what I first envisioned.
While the potency is less, you can potentially keep the bleeds ticking the entire fight which results in more damage overall. Plus, keep in mind that each additional power bar consumed during a special will place an extra bleed on the opponent. So the damage is not that reliant on crit bleeds, at least on paper. If you have the awakened ability it won't be an issue since it will cause all critical arrow hits to trigger a crit bleed.

I haven't been this excited for a buff in a long time, and since HE is one of my fav characters I think I am being too optimistic about it. Let's just hope for the best.

I agree, somewhat. I think its safe to say a lot of his appeal is still going to be controlling power via the sp1, so that's the main focus of my critique, the most likely playstyle. Pausing the bleeds is awesome, I'm a big fan, I just don't think much weaker bleeds extended for longer duration paired with weaker power control makes for a much better champion, the critical bleeds being the big difference maker in my view. Take crit bleeds completely out of the picture or even make them proc very rarely, does that Hawkeye feel that much improved over his current form given the sacrifice in power control? I hope it's not like that and my initial optimism wasn't misplaced, because I can see big potential if things play out well.
