Awakening question: Ultron vs. Peni?

I’ve been sitting on a 6* Tech AG for about 6 months now, and am ready to pull the trigger. Here is my tech roster:

My original plan had been to dupe Nimrod, but managed to do so naturally via the Featured gem (thanks Kabam and RNG gods). I then decided that I was going to use it on Ultron as he does get some solid benefit from it and he is my other R3. I’m NOT going to invest in Ghost - even if I get her at 6* - as I’ve already got her as a 5* and don’t play her enough to justify the investment. I similarly not sure I’m going to do so if I ever get Guardian, although I do play him a lot more.

The only thing that help me up from pulling the Ultron trigger was that I knew I was about to finish Chapter 7.1 exploration and might dupe him naturally. I didn’t, but I DID pull Peni Parker, who I immediately took to R2 and who will most likely be my next Tech R3.

So, my question now is: Use it on Ultron or instead use it on Peni? Based on my research to date, it seems that Ultron benefits more generally from the sig ability. However, it seems that one of Peni’s more interesting pieces of utility - being able to shut down certain types of healing at key moments - like when NF’s LMD gets destroyed - is trapped behind her sig ability.

Interested in the communities input and thoughts on this - stick with my Ultron plan or go with Peni?

One final piece of info: I can probably only ramp up whoever I awaken to a sig level of 20 initially.

I mean, I’ve always had a soft spot for Starlord, but I know his utility is pretty nonexistent. Between Ultron and Peni, I think it just comes down to who you like playing more. Their awakened ability is similarly useful and both are great champs anyways. I don’t think there’s necessarily anyone else I would save the gem for it you don’t want to use it on Ghost (Guardian is the only other one I would suggest and you already mentioned him).

I’ve got him as a 5* max sig. I like him a lot, but trying to prioritize distinct/new 6*s for investment initially. Long term I’d probably invest in him if I did get him as a 6*, but even if I get him he will be behind several other champs from a sig stone priority standpoint.

Actually @odishika123 - how important is her sig level to gain this utility? A brief check on AuntM.ai seems to indicate the core ability to shut it down is upon awakening, and higher sig just means a longer duration heal block which for NF and some of the key things I can think of is probably less of a need.

Ultron definitely needs to be high sig to take full advantage of his, and it will be a long time before I am able to get him ramped up.

At SIG 1 she pretty much counters nick fury and life cycle and other massive regen
fight's.
If that is the type of utility you are looking for
You have found your answer

If you feel that you don't need it you can save the gem for a future champ

Yes, that answers my q. Given that I’m going to be focusing my tech sig stone investment in Nimrod for foreseeable future, being able to get the bulk of the benefit from her with minimal investment after awakening is a definite plus. Ultron is still a beast unawakened so don’t really feel like I’m giving anything up there, and this increases my reasons to use Peni as well.

Going to mess around with her for a couple of days before I pull the trigger just to make sure, but think I’m going to go the Peni route.
