6 star featured drop rates

I just want to know if this has happened to anyone else? 1-2 weeks ago I opened two 6 star shard featured crystals and pulled Old Man Logan back to back. Of course I was annoyed but didn’t think much about it. However, I purchased a few of the Valentine’s weekend offers the shards to open two more featured crystals and pulled Ghost Rider back to back. So I wrote into to support to see if it was a glitch. They replied with the same blanket statement found on the forum. This morning after I used the shards from Season 31 Alliance War’s rewards and pulled Ghost Rider for a third time in a period of about 24 hours. Is this a glitch? Has anyone else experienced this?

I’m not posting this to start any rumors or cause a problematic thread. I’m only asking because Kabam’s page on drop rates states that they “strongly believe in keeping The Contest fair for all players”. However, they do in fact have a patent system allowing the game operators to manipulate drop rates in individual accounts based on a players stats and behavior. Do not take my word for it, the patent registration ID is US9138639B1.

Once again, I’m not being critical of Kabam and simply want to know if this is a system error that anyone else has experienced. The likelihood of this being a coincidence seems highly improbable because before this featured 6 star crystal, this has never happened before in the 5-years I’ve been playing the game.

Please do not reply or post anything negative or rude against Kabam or on their behalf, as I’m not being negative in any way.

RNG. The registration of a patent doesn’t mean the patent is in use, there are a lot of useless patents that have never been developed, only a proof of concept needs to be provided.

To be fair, the chances of getting the same pull from a featured is quite substantially higher because the total number of possible champs is so much smaller than from a general crystal.

I mean its a 1/24 for any champ so...

@caustic I’m 100% open to the possibility that this may be a random coincidence. However, pulling the same low-ranking champ from the featured pool in a 24 hour period seems improbable. I really appreciate your feedback.

Now I'm no expert on patents, and only have rudimentary knowledge of coding, none of which is relevant here, but @DNA3000 has worked with patents (iirc) and so I'm tagging him here.

@ItsDamien thank you for letting me know. However, according to a peer reviewed article published by Science Direct this one does seem to be in use. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0747563219302602

The link you provided does not show Kabam’s patent in use, only a similar patent that other company’s have registered and used. This does not mean the patent Kabam registered in use. So again, it’s RNG.

So ask yourself this, if you pulled Kitty Pryde 3 times in 24 hrs, would you be on here making the same post?

@GrassKnuckles @Zeraphan I understand but please keep in mind that it’s the exact champ three times in 24 hours. Before that, same exact featured crystal, two old-man Logan back to back. Thank you for your feedback.

In this particular respect, I opened 3 assorted crystals in my alt (PHC and 3* crystal) and managed to pull 3* Groot 3 times in the span of one minute. I take it as a coincidence, since not only are those different crystals, but I don't see Kabam having a reasonable incentive to rig those pulls. Of course, this is just in response to your 'pulling same champ from a featured multiple times in a row' part of the post.

I think what is happening honestly, and I have done this to myself in the past as well, is the RNG is just being particularly annoying and you are "seeing" more in it because it helps ease the pain of multiple bad pulls.

Back in the day I would have sworn Kabam had it in for me because I could only pull KK when I opened 5* crystals. My alliance would bet on it because it happened so many times.

I have also had some of the dumbest most amazing luck as well. I opened a batch of feature crystals at the end of last year with the best luck I have ever seen.

That is just the nature of the beast. I really don't think anything is going on.

For sure, I have definitely had multiple pulls of the same champ from general crystals happen. Just saying the odds of it happening with a featured are mathematically higher.

Again this is just showing the patents exist. No evidence of them ACTUALLY being used. That is the problem here. You’re allowed to register a patent and not use it. I could register a patent for a cat operated laser canon as long as I had a proof of concept that it could function. Doesn’t mean I’d have to build it.

This video alone disproves your entire theory.

@Scarcity27 I hear you but these were all featured 6 star. Have you experienced this with the Featured 6 star.

I've only opened 2 6* featured, both of which were Ghost Rider, but with such a limited pool, there's bound to be repeats. I've been documenting all my 5* featured pulls and my cav pulls and haven't pulled the same champion twice, as far as I know.
I think what we need to keep in mind is there are literally thousands, if not millions of people opening crystals that aren't experiencing this, and that RNG does manage to pull off the strangest of surprises.
I won't speak on something I'm not well versed about, but at what point can you say with certainty that your pulls are/aren't rigged?

@Zeraphan It’s possible. I am slightly annoyed but can’t imagine Kabam would single me out. What would they gain? That article has more to do with gaming companies using loot box system to affect drop rates in individual player accounts, in general.

I understand that. I also know that if you search the forums you will find plenty of articles about this patent and if you search the internet probably even more with all the evidence pointing that this is not actually being used.

Don't get me wrong, I have no issue calling Kabam out when it is warranted. This just isn't one of those cases.

You are asking for people's thoughts but actively blocking or trying to refute those who aren't agreeing with you. To be honest at this point it looks like you just want people to jump onto the theory with you to start a witch hunt over your unfortunately bad run of luck.

    Best of luck to you...

Amazon have a patent for flying blimps that deliver your packages. Haven’t seen many of those recently

Having a patent =/= using the patent

This patent is only ever brought up for bad pulls, and seems a way for people to explain away disappointment from bad pulls rather than face the more likely fact that it’s just bar luck.

no matter who you pulled over those 3 crystals, the odds would be astronomical. The odds of pulling the same champ 3 straight times is actually 1/576, so not at all astronomical

I'd really enjoy having my $5 amazon package delivered by a gigantic blimp.
