What RNG?

TsmittTsmitt Member Posts: 41
You finally tricked me into saving up my 6* shards to go for my first ever featured 6* crystal. It took me a few weeks as I am not a very strong player. The whole time I am looking at the champs in the crystal and thinking, the worst champ IMO is who I am going to get so be ready. Sure enough, I didn't need RNG, and duped my 6* Taskmaster, the worst champ in this crystal to me. So I have lost all hope that there is any RNG in these crystals. I only have 50 6* champs and only 5 of them were in this crystal, so the odds should have been favorable for a new champ...but alas, I only dupe my 6* TM for yet a second time. No more for me, just straight basics from here on out, no matter how enticing you try to make the featured look.

Thank you for helping me save my shards.

When you open a crystal, the game is not using your roster to engineer which champ you get. RNG means you can get any of the 24 champs in that crystal, and that's all it means.

I have opened 27 of the current FC (I saved for a long time), and I got dupes of chaps I had, and I got new champs. The lesson is that opening one crystal says zip about RNG, whereas opening a larger sample size is more illustrative of the randomness of RNG.

When I can call who I will get from it a week before opening it, how is that RNG. The worst possible outcome and that's the way my openings happen. Once in a while I get surprised and get a decent pull, but I can normally call what I will or won't get anymore. No matter how many crystals I open. Where's the RNG there?

You can make a prediction and be right. That’s literally how casinos work.

    they aren’t rigged, it’s random

besides taskmaster needs his sig and gets better with it

You made a good guess, that's all.

Why would Kabam care if you duped Taskmaster or opened Kitty Pryde or whoever? How would they know that you would not like an awakened TM (which incidentally is a champ that needs the dupe)?

If you flip a coin and call heads, do you feel like you beat RNG or just guessed right? Taskmaster is underrated by the way.

Dont feel too bad. I've opened 42 crystals of the current feature, and have yet to pull kitty. Also still missing a dupe on nimrod and knull.
But I have pulled every other champ at least once out of this crystal.

Thank you for the more positive response, I really appreciate it. Instead of what feels like bullying and making me feel small, just because I had to vent with my opinion.

You will get that Kitty soon enough, good luck.

Why people even waste time responding to threads like this is beyond me

There actually is no such thing as RNG.
There are infinite parallel universes, in which any and all outcomes exist in these different universes.
That you got Taskmaster in this universe is not random, but has been dictated to be what you would get in this universe.
Your parallel self's in all the other universes have gotten along the way each and every other possibility from that crystal.
You just happen to be living in this particular universe where you pulled Taskmaster.

No worries bud! everyone on this forum is a keyboard warrior.

though, honestly i didnt even start pulling feature crystals until i had over 110 6* champs. Theres still a lot of value in the base pool, just lower odds of getting a champ you desperately seek. Sometimes i'll wait until i can open a few at a time, so if i get 1 or 2 good out of like 3-5 the other "not good" pulls dont feel nearly as bad.

Because approximately one out of every twenty four people who try to do this will succeed.

It is often hard to believe that something that is moderately unlikely but happens to thousands of people can possibly happen to you, but it will. If you think about it, the guy who places a bet on a single number at the roulette wheel and wins has 38 to one odds against him. You had only 24 to one odds against you. But people do sometimes win single number bets at the roulette wheel. In fact, you'd assume this should happen lots of times to lots of people. Unlikely for any one person, but almost certain to happen over time to many people every day.

An extension of the quantum suicide conjecture would imply there's always a way to guarantee getting Kitty. Construct a quantum machine that kills you if you don't pull Kitty. The only versions of you that are still alive are the ones where you pulled Kitty. So by definition you will always pull Kitty, because there's no universe in which you didn't pull Kitty and you could possibly know this.

Personally, I think it is ultimately safer and cheaper to collect more shards.
