A Dislike button will only worsen the issue and cause more problems. We have Moderation to deal with abusive behavior. It's not a reason to add to the problem. That's like saying, give us a way to hate on people because we're going to do it anyway.

Actually it's not at all like that, it's more like saying give us a convenient way to constructively and respectfully disagree with people.

They've done that. Words. As was stated in the comment I shared by Miike, if people disagree, they can use their words, or walk away from the comment. That's the whole point. There are no negative metrics. For one thing, it incites more problems such as public shaming, arguments over Dislikes, group negativity, etc. For another, they want to encourage discussion about topics in a respectful way. It's not a justification to have negative metrics because people make inappropriate comments and abuse the Flags. As for the second comment, that's irrelevant because we can't see who clicks what, so that doesn't apply to showing people we disagree. Something that was also removed because it was causing more issues than good. Plainly, it's not Reddit. We're not here to pass judgment on each other.

People can abuse the Flags and make inappropriate comments, but it's their own participation that they're risking. It's not a way to get a Dislike Button added. All they end up doing is highlighting their own behavior for Moderation. We can't Flag people out of existence because we don't agree with their opinions.

The Flags are abused often. They're not there to disagree with people or Flag someone we don't like. The Forum is not the same format as Reddit. We don't Downvote thoughts and ideas. The idea in my mind is to encourage respectful debate with words, rather than using metrics. If there was a Dislike, that would be used to negatively impact others the same way. If we don't agree with thoughts someone shares, there's no logical reason to have the ability to negatively impact their Profile. People will disagree, and that's fine. Personally, as someone who has seen their share of the Flags abused, it really has no effect on me. It's just a number on a Profile. It's up to someone else if they want to abuse the Flags, which is against the rules. It's somewhat disappointing that people can't debate in a more mature fashion, but I just chalk that up to Human Nature.

Lol you give a good opinion and you get flagged. It is a joke.

Great! Hopefully that means you will stop posting unrelated comments in discussion threads! :)

Hey folks - this is getting aggressive in a weird way, it's time to lock it down. To address a few things here:

    1. Flagging someone's post does not automatically get them in trouble. If a post is flagged, it is reviewed - if it violates our rules we will take action, if it doesn't.... we won't. Same concept as all of the cheating reports we get. We often get people 'rage report' cheating when it comes to a player or alliance that has won in a situation where they've lost... we review these, and for the reports that have no basis in fact, we ignore them.
    2. We don't have any plans to add a 'disagree' button right now. Why? Because we're not focused on negative interactions. Yes, people sometimes break our engagement rules. But the majority of people here are adults, and we expect our rules to be followed if you use this space. This space is also
    3. Yes, mis-using the flagging system is against our forum rules.
    4. If you read something you disagree with, there are a few options: provide a constructive and calm counter-debate without name calling, angry phrases or passive-aggressive unpleasantness. Or - just carry on your day without posting. You don't need to reply to everything you disagree with. You don't even need to reply to everything you agree with! It's a crazy and brave world that way.

We appreciate the request and feedback, and might revisit this possibility again in the future, but for now we have no plans to implement such a thing.
