Got booted from Alliance, 3 of my champions still in Alliance Quest, what happens to them?

JUST got booted from my Alliance, while 3 of my best champions were locked into the AQ.
They're still locked in, but since I'm out of the Alliance, I can't know when they'll be released back to me.
Does anyone know if they're gone forever?

    They'll be released once the AQ is over in 3 hours.

    Normally you would get them back after that AQ ends, but a new bug will keep them locked in AQ until this is a bug free game, meaning never getting them back.

    They are permanently locked in aq until you rejoin your previous alliance!

    They will send you a letter telling you that they prefer your old alliance more and would prefer to be with a more skilled player. However it’s them not you. But really it was you the whole time.
