My Top Rank 4 Options (Inspired by KM)

I think psylocke is great. Often overlooked. I dare say she is the best when it purely comes down to power control
If we’re talking strictly combat power rate, then I don’t even think it’s up for debate. Only champion in the game with a permanent power lock, and it bypasses so many mechanics. I love taking her into fight Terrax because you don’t even need to power drain him to lock him, he does it himself. I also used her against the Phoenix EQ boss this month, she absolutely cheeses that fight. It’s wonderful.

I’m probably going to do a Psylocke appreciation post soon. Mine’s r3 right now, but unawakened. Really want the dupe for that extra crit damage. If I get a mutant AG from completion of 7.4, I honestly might give it to her.

Some people on this forum had me looking into Psylocke, I chose her first dupe over a Purgatory first dupe in a nexus, but need to mess with her more. I see the value for sure. She needs just the Apoc synergy for pretty good damage right? Ideally the horseman abilities.

So just having Apoc on the team will ramp up her psi-charges faster, which is what she cashes in for her big burst heavy. Making her a horseman will up her ability accuracy, causing those charges to accumulate even faster, and make her crits hit harder. Her sig ability also makes her crits better.

So if you have her duped and as a Horseman, you’ll see some very respectable damage numbers from her. She’s also got a synergy with Omega Sentinel coming out that will make it so that you don’t temporarily give up your power lock on the opponent when you land the heavy burst.

Other notable (but not at all necessary) synergies are Mojo, who extends her sp2 and sp3 power locks by 3 seconds plus gives her additional combat power rate, Archangel for the romance synergy, DDNF for an extra 25% damage on specials, and, incredibly useful, Spidey2099.

Spidey’s synergy with her gives her 50% reduced defensive ability accuracy on the opponent when they are passively power locked. Her own sig, at around level 35, also gives a 50% reduction in defensive ability accuracy to power locked opponents. That means at a relatively low sig level, she can lock down not only the opponent’s power, but any defensive abilities they may have. Just an insane amount of utility.

I realize I got a bit off topic. Horseman is all she really needs to be a banger, the rest is just extra sauce she can bring to the table.

@Wicket329 don’t forget that just having Apoc on the team gives her 5% crit chance per psi charge, which is crazy good for her crit rate and overall damage.

We will see when that RNG hits how sure you are about your rank up choices. If this is your first R4 your list is probably too big.

If this is your 2nd R4 your list still too big.

There's an r4 Doctor Strange over Doom or Diablo. An r4 Sabretooth over Apoc or Kitty. I don't see why anyone wouldn't rank up Psylocke over Apoc. You don't realise that not everyone is a meta slave

I have a R4 Karnak. I don't think meta is important for me , but I am basically retired. I'm just saying it doesn't make sense to R4 bishop over Apoc. I guess at the end of the day it really doesn't even matter because R4 are pointless at this point in the game.

I would genuinely want to see this r4 Karnak @Texas_11. I have him only as a 5/65 but I love him.

Now I've been thinking about who'd be my 1st r4 [when I finally finish act 6] and this would be my list of good champs that I don't really get to play around with just to be clear I do not have most of these champs as a 6 star this is in my perfect world

I see where you are coming from on most of these but you have Bishop and Stryfe over Kitty, no Nimrod, and Odin over Knull. If you think that, either you gotta play kitty, nimrod and knull more or i really need to give odin more chances lol

It's OP's personal choices. Not who's considered the best but everyone else. I have a R3 Ghost that I've never used and now don't ever want to. Hate her play style and whatnot. If I could rank her down I would. Not everyone is required to rank for prestige or wants to rank who ever everyone else is ranking. My first R4 was Silver Centurion. I still think I am the only one with one. Unless your alliances is rank 1 in AQ and AW, strongly consider ranking who you love playing with.

I like this list. My first r4 I'm planning on taking is Nebula. It doesn't matter which gem I get, I got units for Spring cleaning to hopefully give me enough t3a to r4 Nebula lol.

RNG could totally force me to sit on ranking anyone to 4. i would hate to sit on it but it could very well happen depending on the class i get.

If you're actually serious about the Super Skrull I really want to see it. That would pretty neat since he's such a cool champ.

If there was any hope for anything remotely useful for him, I would. I took him to R3 in the 7.4 beta and I tried different rotations and it's just bad. Yes he's a decent defender for the new AW global but that could change next season.

I regret every ounce of gold, ISO, catalyst, and sig stones spent on ghost. Saying a champ is better and saying a champ is more deserving of a rank up is completely different. Ghost is far better than 99% of the games roster. But her boring gameplay, wack villainy, and making content too easy isn’t more deserving than a champ you enjoy playing more. Less you do enjoy her, in which case go for it.

Earlier in this thread I compared the two champions, and they’ve each got their pros and cons over the other. For example, good luck locking down Kingpin, Mole Man, Crossbones, or any other debuff shrugging champion/node with Magik the same way you can with Psylocke.

On the flip side, Magik is far better at locking down champions like Hyperion, Doctor Strange, Sorcerer Supreme, Mangog, or any other passive power gain champion/node.

Personally, I prefer Psylocke’s playstyle over Magik’s. Both can do that infinite backdraft intercept thing, but Magik kinda has to because she needs to aggressively build up her power to maintain her constant power lock. Psylocke, after getting her opponent locked down, is free to take the fight however you want so long as you don’t get hit.

Agreed, the only reason Magik is viewed as the ultimate power controller is because she can handle both passive power and combat power gain so well, and passive power gain is a big issue in content like War where she dominates, but that doesn't mean Psylocke doesn't have her strengths and merit. There are many situations I'd prefer Psylocke and she performs better than Magik, and I 100% agree with all the points you've made above.

I’m actually thinking about not r4ing the best option as my first r4, but my favorite X-men, Rogue.
Horseman Rogue is also very fun to play, good healing on sp1 (+the bonus of stealing buffs) and her sp2 is great for powerstealing, she’s not the best but i have had fun playing her in AQ the last few weeks.
