Is this normal? AW pairings and more.

In our last AW not only we were paired with an alliance that had nothing to do with our current level (84M alliance vs our poor 37M alliance), but also, we thought that at least, losing this war woulg mean lower our rating and maybe easier map and/or future pairings. we only loose 1 point of our rating :o
I can inderstand the absurd pairing system, but I find it weird only 1 point of rating value instead of the usual fortysomething.

    You only lost one point in rating because even the often-ridiculous matchmaking system knows that matchups like this shouldn't be happening. My alliance ran into the same thing this last war. We were at 2380 going into the match, got paired up against 2980, and only lost 2 points because it was an incredibly unfair match-up and the system actually takes that into account when considering points won or lost in the match. The greater the discrepancy in the war rating of the match, the lesser your war rating will change depending on the result.

    Rating gets weird when you only run 2 BGs.

    It's the first time we've been paired with such a powerful alliance so I had never seen this kind of "compensation".

    I think if you looked before the war was over, you probably would see that “IF YOU WON” the change in WR would have been big (for both teams).
    If a very low team can beat a much bigger team, you would gain a lot of WR (and they would lose a lot).
    But if a low team loses (as expected) the WR change is much less.

    That’s why the WR +/- is not always the same from war to war. Similar to the bookmakers setting odds in Las Vegas.

    It's the first time we've been paired with such a powerful alliance so I had never seen this kind of "compensation".
    This also happens when matchmaking can't find a match within your war rating. It expands the search outward.
