I used an awakening gem on mine with no regrets though his awakened ability is situational. I have found that he seems a little under the hype unless you have venom or agent venom on the team then he is just a monster. I have taken to running scorpion, agent venom and kraven as a team all the time. Scorpion and agent venom in that trio just shred all kinds of fights.

i’ve tried out a max 3-star Scorpion on his own, and I just don’t enjoy his playstyle. I also haven’t been too impressed compared to the scorpigod moniker people are throwing around. He’s a very good champion, but if you don’t enjoy him, then don’t buy the overhype.

For those who aren’t immediately vibing with his playstyle, I’d say he still is worth being Rank 2 just for the utility side of things. I don’t know how game breaking his sig is, but since a lot of other champions have a known benefit with their sigs, I would definitely recommend saving the awakening until you chose to rank him up to 3 or 4.

I just took mine to Rank 4 - my first science rank 4 if that tells you anything.

Magrailothos

He is great by himself, but if you run Agent Venom, he becomes an absolute banger, as his damage increases so much.

If you have Kraven too, then AV himself becomes an amazingly effective damage-dealer against opponents who bleed (like, Archangel-type levels of damage). The two of them become so good that Kraven is very much a passenger, unless for some reason you like him.

Watch a YouTube video or two on Scorpion - to maximise Scorpion's damage, you do need to Heavy-charge, then counter the opponent's Dash with a Special Attack; which is an unusual playstyle.

High levels of Direct damage
Ability to select damage type, to avoid enemy immunities
Ability to select your own immunities (he's the only Rupture-immune in the game; great against Rintrah or Captain Sam Wilson)
Taunt to control fights like All or Nothing
Petrify if you need to additionally control Power Gain
Astonishingly high Block Proficiency
Decent armour, Energy and Physical Resistance
Evade ability can save you from taking a full combo to the face
