I did not see that interaction coming in BG

After it happened, it made perfect sense. I got Nick Fury down to 1% life with Domino on the Gladiator Circuit. Depending how the fight goes, I either attack while his life is draining for his LMD, or simply let it fall to 30% while design backwards.

But with crit me with your best shot node, he doesn’t lose life in his second life. So I had to kill 2 full Nick Furys. Needless to say, I lost (but only by 2500 so not as bad as I was expecting).

Did everyone else already think of this, or was it just me?

Ya, i noticed this too. I think the node needs to be relooked at. Suicides and LMD should absolutely count towards the defenders health. It’s an even playing field, so I get that there shouldn’t be changes this season. However, I hope they look at this again before next season

Almost everyone I’m being matched with has suicides on. It’s not cheating but it’s freaking annoying. I’d be happy if they tweaked the node in future meta to let the debuffs from suicides affect the defenders. It’s like free attack bonus at no cost on the defenders. And when you see Elsa, you better pick any mutants.

There are pros and cons to it. Half of my roster is designed around DoT which gimped me a bit. Having suicides balances that out a little bit for me even though it limits the effectiveness of the likes of Prof X who is one of my favourite R4s.

The NF thing is quite funny tbh and is actually a great leveller when you’re against some whales.

I disagree, recoil tree is damage and is not crit damage. LMD is direct damage, and that is not crit damage.

There’s been a fair bit of conversation about recoil tree being unfairly punished, and modes being anti recoil tree. Well, here is a week of BGs where recoil tree is not only not-punished, but ideal. Changing how a node works to specifically let the bleed and poison and recoil do damage *would* be anti recoil tree. And that’s not how the game should work (for the record it’s not how the game works now either)

There are pros and cons to recoil tree, and one big con is you take damage. If that damage cannot go through because of crit me with your best shot, that’s absolutely fine by me. The nodes are set and people work out what works best for it - recoil tree work great here, and I’m absolutely fine with that, even though I only have 1 rank of deep wounds even unlocked. I’m running the meta without recoil tree at all, it’s fun to place Void and Warlock for them.

Hard agree. There are pros and cons to using that set of masteries and occasionally the cons will be really bad and conversely there will be metas that greatly benefit users of them. Perhaps they never intended for players being able to benefit from that node on defense but it’s not at all game breaking. This game has several insanely difficult fights where defenders can 1-shot you if you miss a dex or parry. If you’ve unlocked Battlegrounds you’ve demonstrated that you’ve faced some of those bosses. Facing a few slightly more difficult defenders for a week in BG may be annoying, but not in any way out of the ordinary

I got burned by Elsa with suicides. Dead in like 30 seconds without taking any hits.

I can’t see Kabam caring much about it being unfair. They are about to let players pay for relics for an advantage. This is no different. I expect more nodes in the future which favor suicides. Push players to dump units on BG masteries and relics. Might as well introduce an “Extra Ban” token for 1000 units.

These masteries have been out for years, most of the players who are serious in this game have them unlocked, or work towards them. They’re also a massive hindrance for the other 3 weeks, so you could argue that for all the players who don’t care for AW and just run suicides 24/7 were being penalised for spending the units to unlock them.

Recoil users payed for the masteries for an attack bonus at the cost of health loss through specials and DOT - if there are nodes that only allow specific sorts of damage then the recoil tree interacts with it as expected.

We can’t make specific allowances for recoil to have cons just because “it’s free damage”. It’s free damage because someone is strategically using their mastery set up to get an advantage. That’s what this game is about.

If the node says the defender only takes crit damage, then they only take crit damage. That goes for everything - not “they only take crit damage, oh and recoil masteries”.

I don’t have all the masteries unlocked, let alone using them now, so I say this very much as my unbiased opinion.

I get it the interaction but I’d still welcome adjustment to that takes into consideration the suicides masteries. I have the masteries unlock so I’ve put them on. If you can’t beat them, join them lol and I’ve also unlock another deck in BG to 2 different mastery options. And I believe having suicides on has been helpful in progressing. I’m Mysterium 1 atm.

I love these types of interactions. Makes tinkering stuff fun like masteries and champs you use. I wouldn't change anything here

Don't suppose you know whether critical bleeds still deal damage though? I'd like to think they do being as they're critical but I suspect that they don't 🤔

I think the node effects are fine, but the description needs to be updated. At the moment, it reads as ‘This Defender takes 100% less damage from Hits that are not Critical’.

We know that the node does indeed cause non-critical attacks to deal 100% less damage.

But it doesn’t state that non-hit damage is affected. It SPECIFICALLY states HITS that are not critical.

As a result, the node (if it stays as is) SHOULD read:

‘This Defender takes 100% less damage from all sources except Critical Hits’.

This would make the node actually reflect what it does in game.

Alternatively, you could keep the description the same, but instead, have the node only affect non critical attacks. This way, DOT would still deal damage because they are not Hits. Non-critical Basic and special attack hits would not deal any damage, but critical attacks, DOT, burst damage etc, still would.

I think either of these solutions is fine. I probably prefer the former and I’m inclined to believe Kabam does too.
