Relics in Story mode?

Looking over the announcement I see the list of places they are usable. But it doesn't mention Story mode.

I take it as they won't be allowed there. And one can guess as to why, I'm just curious if that was the case

They are for all rarities and to help all rarities perform a tad better. Not just 3 and 4*, but you do you.
