Glad to put a face on the name who answer very well on the forum.
Your video was greatly appreciated, including the end with a Dorky voice style
Hope to see such videos every two months.
So excited to hear about Jessica in the contest... finally
Not sure if this works here but all the stupid slow talking training videos I am forced to watch I hit play and walk away then come back, move back to the start and scroll across the progress bar to read the subtitles at normal reading speed for me.
Welcome to Inside the Contest. I'm Jax, and I'm here to tell you what new and exciting things are on the horizon for Marvel Contest of Champions. Let's kick things off with our calendar of events for everything you need to know for the rest of the year. Starting November 25th at 10am, we have Cyber Weekend. No need to camp out overnight for these deals, some of the best deals of the year will arrive with this sale. May the spins be ever in your favor. The monthly event will be running December 7th though January 11th. Rocket's Scrapyard is back and better than ever. Collect scrap in weekly quests, then spend that scrap on rewards from Rocket's Workshop. MCOC turns 8 years old and in-game celebrations will take place between December 10th and 17th. But lucky you, even though it's MCOC's birthday, the game is giving YOU gifts. Make sure to log in each day to collect all the goodies. The MCOC holiday event will be in full swing from December 19th to January 2nd. What a way to spread holiday cheer. And that's everything happening in December. Get ready to dive in, summoners.
Summoner's choice is coming back, and YOU will have the opportunity to pick the next champion using the superpower of democracy. Summoner's Choice 2020 saw Hercules peck pop his pearly white grin into the contest, and with Summoner's Choice 2022, fan favorite Quicksilver sped circles around our hearts. Now, like picking a high school class president, it's time for another exciting popularity contest. Summoner's Choice 2023 will pit eight hopeful heroes and/or villains against each other for a single spot in the contest. This time around, fan favorites from the last two Summoner's Choice votes were given another shot at glory as our underdog candidates. You helped decide, please welcome back to Summoner's Choice....Bullseye! Keep your eyes glued to the MCOC social accounts for more details in January, including the remaining seven choices.
Now, we're going to hand things over to the design team to talk about a new champ joining the contest this December.
Hey summoners, I'm Kabam Honeydew, associate game designer on MCOC, here to give you the latest peak at the newest champion joining the contest this December. She's been an Avenger, and a master martial artist, but perhaps she's best known as the Guardian of the Galaxy's resident empath. Please welcome to the contest, Mantis!
When designing champions, my #1 priority is always making them as fun as possible to play, and for Mantis I knew that I could do that by making some incredibly fun gameplay surrounding her ability to control the opponents emotions. With that core goal in mind, many of Mantis' abilities are designed around influencing the opponent's level of aggression using infuriate and intimidate effects. Playing into these effects allows Mantis to power up the rest of her kit. One unique mechanic that Mantis possesses, is that she doesn't automatically run forward when she isn't performing an action, allowing her to stand completely still. By standing still, Mantis will focus her emotional energy to inflict the brand new tranquilize effect onto the opponent, decreasing the ability accuracy of the opponent's debuffs. This ability can be disabled and re-enabled by quickly double tapping block in case Mantis gets herself into some sticky situations. Personally, I love working with burst damage, because it can create some incredibly satisfying moments where your champions abilities align to deal some absurd amounts of damage and take chunks off of your opponent's health bar. Summoners can look forward to using Mantis' heavy attack to charge up numerous fury effects and hop right into her special 2 to deal powerful burst damage with guaranteed critical hits. Finally, to help Mantis' personality shine through, summoners will be able to find a ton of easter eggs depending on who she's fighting against, not to mention her really powerful synergies, especially as she teams up with the other members of the Guardians of the Galaxy. I am so excited for Mantis to be joining the contest. She was an absolute joy to design, and I cannot wait for everybody to try her out.
That will be all for me. Back to you Jax.
For a long time now, many players have been asking for an additional challenge to flex their skills and roster. We're excited to tell you a new difficulty level for event and side quest targeting higher-tiered players will be coming to the contest in early 2023. With the addition of a higher difficulty level, we will be reworking our approach to monthly event and side quests for all difficulties. Looking at the current Cavalier difficulty, it's obvious that it is too easy for veteran Thronebreaker and Paragon players, but it can be too challenging for fresh Cavalier players. Previously, different monthly events had different design intents, and as a result, difficulty varied from month to month. This rework will further emphasize the focuses for both EQ and SQ. High-level event quests have always focused on embracing summoners' champ knowledge as well as pushing players to refine their skills. Side quests will give players more space to flex their champions' muscles and lean into that raw power. The changes will result in a new challenge for experienced players, a more defined identity for both quest modes, and a more consistent ramp up in difficulty as summoners progress. We hope that you're excited for this frequently requested feature.
For years, she's been part of the contest, but never as a playable champion...and you've asked, begged, and bargained, and well...it's finally happening. This December, say hello to a new playable champion...Jessica Jones! A convivial Tuesday in April to you all. Jessica Jones will be available during the holiday event and in new special crystals.
Looking past December, we are very excited to welcome a duo from the Masters of Evil! Heading to the contest in January, who do you think they could be? Please let us know in the comments of this video.
That concludes this episode of Inside the Contest. If you want to continue the conversation about what's coming to MCOC, head over to the forums using the link in the description. We'll see you next time summoners. Have fun, and play nice.
