Calling on Kabam to issue rank down tickets for Dragon Man

For those who don’t know the situation, up until the most recent update, Dragon Man had a piece of utility that he no longer has: he could regenerate large amounts of health when unstoppable and dexing. This ability has been removed after the most recent patch, though there’s been no word on it from Kabam. I’d call this a nerf because it removed an existing piece of utility, others would call it a bug fix because that utility probably wasn't intentional (it was never in his description). Regardless of what you call it, this is the exact same situation as what happened with Mole Man- Kabam released character and eons later, without the character being slotted for a change (or even warranting one), they knocked them down a peg, leaving players stuck feeling duped over having invested resources in a character that no longer has what was once a nice piece of utility. In the case case of Mole Man, Kabam gave out rank down tickets. I’m calling on them to make this right, be consistent, and do the same in this situation.

Man, you just aren’t admitting to the facts. Was Mole Man’s utility not an unintentional? So then it was a bug? And people got mad that Kabam changed the character so late in the game, right? So I’m mad about the exact same situation that I just rhetorically asked about, but this time it’s different?

Let’s flip this around, how is this situation any different from the Mole Man situation except for scale? Scale obviously being irrelevant because players myself are still a subset of the community who are effected, we’re people who were left hanging.

Also you never answered. How long should I have waited to act and rank up Dragon Man because I liked the way he played? Should I have waited 4 years? 5?

Again, regardless of what you call it, I’m only drawing a parallel between the current situation and the Mole Man situation, a comparison that is obvious and accurate. I’m here to argue semantics, call it whatever you want. I’m just saying they should do what they did the last time this happened.
Mole Man's bug was widely known and quite obvious. It was talked about for a year. Your post yesterday was the first I and most have ever heard of the bug. They are not the same by any stretch.

I find it absolutely ridiculous that you know he was bugged and you expect compensation for abusing a bug this entire time instead of reporting it.
So you’re saying that it’s a difference of scale? More people abused the Mole Man bug so that made it valid? How does that make any sense?

The fact is Kabam allowed their characters to be published and played a certain way for YEARS and then left the subset of players holding the bag when they finally decided to get around to fixing.

Also, super presumptuous of you. I did report it, and you should kick rocks for assuming otherwise. But then over a year passed and Kabam had left it in. I waited over 1/6 the lifespan of the game at the time to rank him. The utility made Dragon Man a fun character to play, so I ranked him. Should I have waited another year to do that, biding my time in case Kabam finally got around to it? How about two years? When does it end?
Kabam acknowledged Mole Man's bug and had been working on a fix. They never had this Dragon Man bug on their radar.

You should always know that any bug can get fixed anytime but to expect comp for it is dumb. Dragon Man is still a very good champ. But this is nothing like Mole Man and She Hulk.

Outside of your posts about this bug, show me where it's ever been discussed openly and by multiple players. I'm on these forums everyday and I have literally never seen a topic or discussion about this so called bug/utility.

Check my last post, I linked a few public discussions from days past. That was just from a 10 second google search, there’s gotta be dozens across this forum, reddit, and youtube.

The because the bug was discussed publicly and ignored many times. People had publicly asked and made subsequent videos ok it and it was ignored. This bug here I and others hadn’t heard about till recently and it was something (for me at least) was never a reason someone suggested ranking him. As compared to mole man, his bug was a direct reason people would suggest and recommended ranking him for.
You should look at my discussion from yesterday. I linked a couple posts where it was publicly discussed on this forum, and a youtube video too. There are probably another dozen discussions mentioning it here and another dozen on Reddit. People recommending him for rank up and specifically mentioning this piece of utility. The fact is, it WAS discussed publicly, here and across the internet. You might have missed it, it seems many did, but that doesn’t mean the situation is substantially different from that with Mole Man. Only difference is scale, and I’d like to see consistent treatment regardless of scale.

You posted 2 links and the only other one that shows up is a reddit post from one of the same people who made a forums post. So 2 people and one of those made 2 posts. Also in all 3 of those, people said it was a bug.

You claim you reported it as a bug but your post history suggests otherwise-
You really try to see the worst in people, don’t you Demonzfyre? That’s great, I’m happy for you.

I never linked a reddit post, I linked two forum posts and a youtube video. If you found a repeat Reddit post, congrats, I don’t care. All I’m saying is that it was publicly discussed, and there’s no denying that.

Yep, they said it was a bug. The Mole Man thing was a bug too, so wouldn’t you agree that we deserve treatment consistent with situations in which they fix bugs years later. Thanks for clearing that up.

Anyways, where in my post do I indicate that I didn’t report the bug? I reported it directly to Kabam using the “report bug” feature. Sorry if I didn’t make 50 posts here yelling about it, as you can see I’m not too active in these forums and have only posted a few times in many years. I’m more of a lurker, but some things cause me to post. Like this.
I'm not "finding the worst" in you. You claimed that there are "probably dozens" of forum posts and reddit threads etc.. right here in this thread after you performed a google search. There isn't which again, means this is not a widely known bug as you claim it is.

Again, the difference between Mole Man and this is that Kabam acknowledged MM's bug early on but wasn't ever able to fix it until a year'ish later. Are they both bugs? Yes. Are they the same in terms of effects on the community.

Yep, I stand by “probably dozens” and I I’m not misleading people by saying that, like you’re implying I am. Here’s 3 more links that I found in 5 seconds of google, if there’s 6 total links that I found and supplied from 15 total seconds of googling, do you think dozens is incorrect?

Also, concerning the difference being Kabam knowing about Mole Man’s situation but not fixing it for over a year, check that most recent link. Posted in March of 2021, central point about his “Regen through dex” AND edited by Kabam Porthos. There you have it, definitive proof that Kabam knew about this bug over a year ago. So now what’s the difference, huh Demonzfyre? It’s the same situation as Mole Man and we deserve the same treatment.

In these instances scale is very relevant because Moleman was ranked up precisely for his bugged utility combination, Dragonman is ranked up for being a 2x immune mystic robot. There were/are 100s of forum posts requesting clarification on Moleman's abilities over a 14 month period, all of which went ignored up until the bug fix. I understand that for you that feels the same, but this is the first time I've heard of this bug and I'm a fairly regular user on these forums. Players haven't been asking for Kabam's blessing to rank up Dragonman for this piece of utility in the way they were for Moleman or She Hulk.

I obviously wouldn't say no to a rank down ticket, though I would keep mine at R3 probably as Dragonman is a real sleeper in BG.
A comment expressing a contrary opinion in a reasoned and respectful way. How refreshing. Well done sir.

Absolutely not. Not even remotely. At least the mole man argument had some sort of merit. This was outright explicitly a bug. While yes kabam is responsible for not acknowledging this bug (along with a thousand others) despite all the threads here, It does not warrant a RDT

100%. Moleman was not working as intended, and got the RDT because Kabam ignored it for so long.

Dragon man was never intended to have this feature. Carpe diem.

“Moleman was not working as intended and got the RDT because Kabam ignored it for so long”

“Dragon man was [working in a way that was] never intended” That’s the exact same thing? Even down to Kabam ignoring it for so long, there have been posts and reports about Dragon Man having this part of his kit for two years now. So what’s the difference?

6 is not dozens. 6 is half a dozen. Also, reddit threads don't count as kabam is not patrolling those forums either. Edited by a mod does not acknowledge anything other than they moved it to the bugs section. These situations are still not the same and DM does not need RDT's.
  • altavistaaltavista Member Posts: 1,458 ★★★★
Nope, not even the same as the Moleman situation. This is more similar to any other bug fix.

Let us look at last month's changes (https://playcontestofchampions.com/news/v37-0-release-notes/):

Peni Parker: Fixed an issue where Peni Parker’s Shield will reduced Damage from Special 3 Attacks if the Special 3 Attack is launched at the same time a Hit is Blocked
    .

Clearly this is a bug, as SP3 is unblockable, and thus the block-damage reduction of the shield shouldn't occur.

Did players know about this bug? Some yes, as they may have reported it to Kabam to fix (or Kabam learned about it themselves). But not a ton of people knew about it. Who can honestly argue that knew about this, and that they ranked up Peni after learning about this bug?

Your argument would be the same: Give RDT because Peni/Dragon Man can no longer do something that was not in their kit, this Peni/Dragon Man bug has been around for over 1-2 years, AND well known enough that people would rank up the champion because of the bug.
