Locked out on reward of Alliance Banquet event

Hey All,

I joined the new alliance couple of hours before the banquet event starts.
Do i have to wait till the end to purchase and contribute points towards the event or i can purchase and points will be added when i am eligible?
Please help me if anyone knows the answer.

    Points will not be added until the timer expires and will not be saved prior to expiring either. Only crystals obtained and opened after the timer expires will count. Be ready for a sprint!

    So, I will eligible for the millstone rewards if I make all my purchase after the timer ends, correct?
