Bought the 7 day boost for victory track, got 2 days and was threatened with a permanent ban

I got my taxes back recently, I purchased victory track boosts, for the shards. I didn't know there was a limit. Well I hit it, at 45 days. I got 2 days of the 7 I purchased.

I contacted support for some sort of resolution. I would have taken partial refund, or credits, shards, etc. I was told all sales are final. I informed customer support I would go through other means for a refund, and was threatened with a permanent ban.

If the offer wasn't receivable, it shouldn't have been offered in the first place.

    It is unfortunate they wouldn't take back your stuff and give you a refund or units or something but at the same time before you buy anything in these types of events you should check how it works exactly because Kabam is sometimes quite poor at making things simple and clear. In this case if you checked the rewards display screen and pulled it over far enough you would have seen there was nothing beyond 45 days.

    Purchase limit is 5x of the 1-day, and 4x of the 7-day.
    But I assume you mean you purchased MORE than what was needed to reach the final DAY-45 of the Rewards ?

    (at first, thought you were saying your Credit Card company, seeing multiple purchases for same thing, maybe limited, or refunded you, thinking a purchase erroneously was rung thru multiple times.)

    So sounds like it was on you, for not seeing how many of something you needed to purchase.

    And if you do proceed with asking for refund thru your credit card instead, that is the type of thing that may result in a Negative Units balance in game (probably when they were talking about).

    And (reading it again), if you bought a 7-day boost, when you were already only 2 days away from the max, well, you DID end up getting something, you got to advance 2 days worth.
    There is no PARTIAL refund due. You could have just bought 2x of the 1-day passes instead.
    Or actually, just waited a couple more days, as there is still more than a week's worth of days to go during this month's daily objectives.

    Well the threat to ban seems a bit extreme... But asking for a refund by other means would leave u in kabam unit jail...

    If they bought a 7 quantity of the 1-day boosts, and was only 2 days away from the max, I could see Kabam maybe issuing a refund of 5 of those 1-day purchased items.

    But since (if indeed) they bought a single quantity item which was the 7-day boost item, there can not, and should not, be a partial (fractionalized) credit of an individual purchased item.

    Just got up for work. I would have taken any sort of resolution. I don't know where it says 45 is the limit. Nothing said that when I made the purchase, of an item they couldn't deliver.

    @Coppin @MrSakuragi I probably should have went out of my way to check before making a purchase. It never occurred to me that I needed to. I figured it was offered, so it was available.

    Part of me thinks, it's only 5$, forget it. Still bothers me though.

    Kabam is unlikely to permanently ban you, but it is an option in extreme cases. The more common option is to hit your account with contest credits.

    The problem with going to Apple or Google asking for a refund, from Kabam's perspective, is the two app stores basically hand out refunds like candy. They don't investigate, they don't allow the vendor to prevent fraud, they just say here you go, hand you back your money, and dock the app developer. So it is trivially easy for a player to buy something, tell Apple they are very sad because they are unhappy what they bought was not good enough, and get a refund. Kabam cannot appeal player refunds.

    So Kabam's policy is if you go around them and ask the app stores for a refund, and they get hit with a transaction revocation, they in turn will hit you with a penalty in the form of contest credits. Basically, you will be locked out of the in-app store and unable to spend any of your units until you pay off the debt. And the contest credit debt will be more or less the same as the amount you hit them for.

    Until you clear the contest credit penalty, you will not only be unable to buy anything else, you will also be unable to earn units in-game. You can continue to play, but all access to the unit currency both paid and free to play will be permanently unavailable.

    In your case, it sounds like you received partial benefits for the purchases. That's problematic because customer support cannot give you a partial refund. That's literally impossible. And they can't give you the shards, because that opens the door to people bypassing the limit and buying however much they want. So that left them with no normal options. If you buy something with cash and do so in error, and you don't do anything with the materials you receive, customer support has a mechanism to make you whole: they can fully refund you and take back the stuff. And support has done that for other players in the past. Your situation seems to be one where unfortunately that wasn't really an option.

    If you want to be upset at someone, don't be upset at Kabam. Be upset at all the players who forced this policy change. Once upon a time players decided that if they were unhappy with Kabam about anything they could easily stick it to them by just asking for refunds. They publicly encouraged players on the forums and in the Reddit to ask for refunds from Apple and Goolge to voice their dissent. Not happy with the Cyclops that popped out of your crystal? Refund. Not happy with balancing changes to champions. Refund. Abyss too hard? Refund. Refunds became a mechanism to voice dissent, not to actually correct legitimate purchasing mistakes. This is what compelled Kabam to implement the system they have now.

    @DNA3000 I was unaware of any past problems with refunds. I understand completely. But, Kabam "reserves the right" to do whatever they want with in game currencies, etc. It's their decision.

    I got 400 6@ shards, still had them. So there was many avenues to rectification. They could have sent me a few units, and I would have happily taken them. Even a couple potions, or boosts, would have been fine. This is what I asked when I initially filed the ticket. I make an effort to be a reasonable person. I don't expect anyone to bend-over backwards for me.

    I read that they could put me in the negative, which is completely unacceptable. If it was simply a negative for purchases, I may do so, and that would help me to not spend in the future. But I was informed that I couldn't even open "orbs" if I did so. If I can't open orbs, I would miss a large portion of quest and event rewards.

    And, on a side note, why should I have to research anything to find out if I can make a purchase? Buying a car, house, etc, yeah, sure I should. Buying something in a game? A 5$ expenditure? Having to research before I give you my money, makes the process much more involved than it should be. It would work as a deterrent. If someone wants to spend money at your business, you make the transaction event as seamless as possible. When I was making the purchase, it could have mentioned a 45 day limit. I don't go the the icon at the bottom to collect my rewards, in most cases. The items screen lets you do it quickly. If you go to the icon at the bottom you have to scroll, and the game has a habit in those menus of acting strange. Lag, false inputs, etc.

    I work a lot, and it can be an extremely stressful job. So when work gets slow, at like 1am, it is/was nice to log in, and leave the mortal coil behind for a bit. I was chewing around the idea of just giving it up. I find a little joy opening those crystals after a rough day of trying to teach children with learning and developmental disabilities. I probably should find something more constructive though. I have something, some part of me, that won't let me give up.

    Every day, you would have had to been looking at the Double-Track (Valentine) Objectives, to figure out what to do.

    After doing objectives, most likely you have been going back into here and Swiping Right all the way up to that day's rewards to claim them. (unless you always claimed them from Stash instead)

    You had to have also Swiped Right far enough along to see where the Purchase of 1-day or 7-day Boosts were at, since you did purchase (at least) one.

    That also would have been showing you that there will be enough days of FREE objectives to earn all of the Free Track rewards (so long as you login and play every day).
    And that there are even several extra “missed day allowances” days, in case you do miss logging in a couple or few days.

    Scrolling all the way to right to be able to buy the Bonus would have started to show you where the extra “Paid Track” (2nd row) rewards are that would need to purchase some “Boost Days” items (as you did).

    Do you think it too much of a hassle to have continued to Swipe Right a little more to see where it ends at 45 days ?

    And you even bought more days worth than what would have even been needed from enough of the FREE days that are still to come.
