Anyone else progressing by hate-playing this game?

I don’t know what else to call it, so the clickbait title stays. Back at Cyber Weekend 2020, I was furious that the cavalier offers were even worse than the July 4 offers months earlier. After throwing a hissyfit on the forums and Reddit for a bit, I strapped in and cleared 6.3, 6.4 and 7.1 and I reached Thronebreaker right around New Years. All the units I saved from Cyber Weekend went a long way. Plenty were left for spring cleaning and July 4 2021.

Fast forward to this month - I had completed the dimensional being and robot Carinas and I didn’t plan to go back. For the most part, my teams weren’t ideal and I had other rankups I’d rather do.

Well, a few things came together at once. I had a lot of energy expiring from 4-hour crystals from my robot Carina run. And then Kabam said they were dumping 3.2.6.

I figured I’d make the most of it. I spite-grinded a laughable number of revives and decided to basically do the Scarlet Witch solo run to get two challenges done. Worked great. No regrets.

Well now I’ve got a ton of energy (again) that expires in a little over a week, because 4-hour crystals give too much energy and gold and not enough potions.

Since Kabam hasn’t released any story content in the past 6-months, I haven’t been able to use energy there. The event quest was made harder for the same rewards, so it’s no longer worth bothering with beyond completion and Thronebreaker difficulty. What does that leave me to do with all my energy? That’s right - farm 3.2.6.

This weekend - spiders. Next weekend - thunderbolts and my first r5. And it never would’ve happened without Kabam telling me it was going away. Thanks, Kabam! If I can find the thread around April 2 or 3, I’ll let y’all know who my first r5 is.

Same. I have only robots and alternate avengers left. So I'm going to farm until april to complete alternate avengers. Robots isn't too hard and I'm missing 6 star dragon man and don't want to rank up the 5 star. I'll do that with the new rev farming and some units.

But I'm going to make sure I don't have to spend so I'm going for 120 revs since I have a less than ideal team.

Tbh I barely spent on 8.1. Max 5 revives/path and 15-20 on scytalis first try or so... cant remember too well

I wouldn't say *hate* grinding, but definitely motivated grinding. Finished the Spiders run yesterday and I only have the Portals left (which I was waiting to do until I pulled Spot, who I now have at R3 as of 2 days ago) and I'll have my first R5 as well.

Having done the 8.2 beta, kabam is upping the difficulty a lot. I quite enjoyed it because the fights required more skill and benefitted larger rosters. Used rocket a lot 😂

I’m not really hate-progressing but more like hate-leveling-up instead.

I’ve decided to skip over top-tier characters like IW Capt, Galan, Shang Chi and Wiccan in order to focus on getting my OG characters to R3. So I’ll be ranking up regular old Capt, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, and Spider-Man for now, along with the Fantastic Four. Eventually. I’d like to rank up both X-Men Blue and Gold teams too.

Today, I decided to make a meme-tier Battlegrounds deck to purposefully lose three quick matches every 48 hours. It’s all 3*’s with my 4* trophy champs at the top. For fun, I just ranked up Punisher to R5 and I want to do the same with Thanos, Goldpool, immortal Iron Fist, Unstoppable Colossus, Sigil Scarlet Witch, and Jessica Jones.
