Question about Valkyrie.....

Wu_Bangerz23Wu_Bangerz23 Member Posts: 1,003 ★★★
All I read is she really needs her awakening.....and high sigs on top of that. Her ability basically lets her ignore unstoppable and be stun immune with bulwarks.....I mean.....those are great utilities, but they are not end all be all game changers like NF, Herc and many other awakened abilities ....Can someone familiar with Valk both unawakened and high sig explain to me what I am missing and why it is soooo important??? Any help making me understand would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I too would like to know. I hear a lot of people say they used her on the 8.2 Hulk boss, but I haven't watched any videos. Please enlighten to us, all of you. Valkyrie warriors.

Her sig is important because she can completely ignore any unstoppable without having to do anything more than hit the opponent 11 times (at max sig). Comparing her to Herc (ideally max sig) and Nick (fine at sig 1) (both champs I would awaken over her) is an unfair comparison because you’re not necessarily going to use them in fights where her utility is needed, so we need to compare her to other options for her utility.
Valkyrie stops unstoppable effects at 11 hits (1 pierce) at max sig, or at 31 (can be shortened by alternating combo enders) hits (3 pierce) at sig 1.
She-Hulk needs to keep up heavies. CapIW needs kinetic charges. Shang-Chi needs to throw periodic double mediums. My memory could be serving me wrong, but to the best of my knowledge Valkyrie is the only champ that doesn’t need anything outside of just hitting the opponent (assuming her buffs don’t get nullified) to completely remove unstoppable effects.
At the end of the day her sig doesn’t impact her damage, but she really has no utility outside of her sig. She still hits like a truck through the block either way. I wouldn’t call her a high/max sig necessary champ, but the higher her sig the more manageable annoying unstoppable fights are.

I know those are def unfair comparisons but I was just saying.....from all I read and see it's as if she has like a top 10 awakened ability in the game. I just wasn't sure if there was some hidden ability I wasn't aware of.....I appreciate you taking the time to thoroughly explain this for me/us though. Thanks man

I’d say that not having to directly touch the opponent is a pretty good piece of “utility” since it allows you to ignore a lot of annoying nodes and effects. I agree otherwise, her sig ability is very useful.

Yeah, definitely wouldn’t say she’s a top-10 awakened ability. But when it comes to what her sig does it’s safe to say that she is no worse than the top 3 (IMO #1) option for fights where you need to get around or rid of unstoppable affects.

That is true. Focusing damage through the block can get around some other annoying affects which is nice. That just usually turns out to be when the AI wants to be more aggressive and you end up just intercepting the entire fight lol

She doesn't need the dupe, she's a unique champ either way.

Her sig gives her vital utilities that raise her to the next level in high difficulty content.

Her damage is right up there with everyone else.

She has a TON of utility. She can bypass soooo many annoying nodes & abilities. Take her into a Hulkling fight & ur able to kill him without him gaining a single regen/indestructible buff. Dont want the defender to throw an annoying special? Ive taken down R4 Galan's without him getting a 2nd sp1. Rintrah isnt a problem at all and he probably the best defender in the game. She controls ALL aspects of the fight. Her passive power gain is crazy useful. Shrugs debuffs. Pauses her passive pierce buffs with the sp2. Places a nice intimidate. Shes crazy and I would R5 her again without a 2nd thought.

I never understood how people says she bypass unstoppable wit 11 hits (at max sig) like it’s the best unstoppable counter while Shang chi literals only needs a double medium? 2 hits is less than 11 I thought 🤔

2 hits you have to constantly refresh and is also killed by shruggers.

It becomes annoying when AI refuses to throw specials and the slow falls off 😔

She’s pretty much an ‘I win’ button in the current BG meta at sig.

Her unstoppable counter means if you accidentally hit his block nothing happens. And she shrugs so easier volatility .

Also, i don't know how much of the following is because mine is a r5 but i found her ridiculously tanky. So many hits and I was still coasting. And her damage is pretty great too

if you pulled her first time, and don't have an awakening gem, is not the end of the world. I used her unawakened for quite a bit, because all i have to do is hit into the opponent block and they will consistently go down and die due to mainly her pierce buff, and that ability by itself is a big deal. Now if you get lucky to dupe or have an awakening gem laying around, use one of her, but make sure you have at least 60 sig stones to use on her right away, that will allow you to build 3 pierce buffs and completely ignore unstoppable effects (buff and passive), at sig 120 you only need 2 pierce buffs and sig 200 you need 1 pierce buff to ignore unstoppable. Is that a great deal for you? if it is because Kabam just loves to make those unstoppable nodes and unstoppable abilities on champs, then she is your MVP, unless you come up with nodes with buffet, etc that punishes buffs, then you will have to use another option.

    Good Luck.

You need 4 pierce at sig 1 since it rounds up, not down. So is a bit of a pain to maintain since after 3 new effects are passive with a shorter duration.

I can’t speak for everyone else, but for me I find her ability to counter unstoppable to be quite good. It allows her to get around it without using a nullify (in the case the unstoppable is a buff) or a slow, so in fights where one or both of those mechanics aren’t great options she shines.
