So is this store update going to be coming along with the June update on Wednesday?

Or will it be season 9 of battlegrounds?

There’s no set date, because it hasn’t been decided. The store isn’t ready yet, it’s going through all the necessary tests to make sure it’s good for the economy of the game.

The information given was so people knew it was coming, but it wasn’t meant to be a set in stone announcement that it’s coming next update, or next season. It’ll be here when it’s ready.

Other than that, we have no idea when it’ll be here. I will say it could be worth saving tokens to make sure you have some in your stash when it does get here, but remember there is a cap, so definitely keep spending them to avoid that!

I think the main resolution is, hoard all your store resources until you hit the cap. Unless you absolutely need something for game progression, only spend to keep you under the cap. Don’t waste resources buying something that due to economy deflation will be cost less in (hopefully) a relatively short space of time.

This is why we need more regular store updates. After a certain point, the stores are over priced and worth the spend. People hoard the virtual currency for when the game updates and dump them all at once so you get a bigger step change rather than more even spend with stable progression.

If you delay the changes for extensive testing, by the time you finally release them, the rest of the game economy has progressed so far that they’re obsolete anyway. Problem solved.

I’m glad Kabam has begun to communicate more but saying stuff like “we’ll have news soon” is a recipe for countless threads like this. People always conflate the news with the actual changes, and most people wouldn’t consider news a month out “soon.” Even something like “we hope to have changes live for season 9, but they may need to be held for season 10” would set some baseline expectations and answer many questions before they’re asked.

I think it’s also a particular point of frustration for the community because it feels like Kabam hasn’t delivered as hoped on the regular cadence of currency updates (one glory update in 12 months, no loyalty or BG update since the paragon store and season store were introduced). I’ve 100%ed 7.1 through 8.2 and EOP/Carina. I don’t have any solo content to push my roster forward, so my progress hinges largely on monthly content and a painfully dated glory store.

This is literally how they’ve always done updates to stores… it’s not like they’ve suddenly decided to test the impact on the economy. They’ve just told you ahead of time.

The “delay” that you’re speaking of will be built into the store so it’s relevant for when it’s added to the game, so you don’t need to worry about that.

The issue with saying “we think it’ll be season 9 but may be held for 10” is that they didn’t know that that’s the case when they told you. That’s my point on not knowing a timeline. And then the next point, is that if they *did* say that, and then it had a delay, and went to season 11, people would complain that kabam never stick to dates, or lied, or other similar complaints.

“Soon” is a word that is simultaneously vague and conveys a sense of immediacy. Compared to the eventual heat death of the universe, a 2024 update is very soon, but not what anyone expects in the context of the game.

If they say “soon” in early or mid May, and we get through June without any news, they should’ve chosen a different timeframe. “Late Summer” is just one example. “In the next few months” is another.
