Dumb compensation?

My brother got a rift compensation for a mistake Kabam made, I didn't, anyone else figure the rift selection at the very first day of the rifts being out was intentional? So now I don't get a compensation because of their mistake and not warning anyone, how the hell would I know this rift selection wasn't intentional this is dumb and I am very pissed

It was very obvious that it wasn’t intentional. Why would they let you get 5 paths of rewards (including a bunch of shards and a 6* AG) on every entry?

I figured if it was in the game it was meant to be in there, again how the Hell would I know this was a mistake I don't spend a lot of time in forums so I had 0 idea

I don't think Kabam puts things in the game to not be intentional if you look it at my point of view Kabam added rifts, rifts had a selection, Kabam most likely put it in on purpose, my whole allaince is confused and everyone in global chat is also confused explain that to me

So imagine EVERYONE gets it, how is that fair to us? The people that didn't (unknowingly in your case) exploit a bug, we'd still get put at a disadvantage over you. Whilst we did the intended thing

They call it an exploit, the game creators exploited the game for us to exploit so we get punished? That makes 0 sense nobody exploited because nobody cheated, this selector was in the game by Kabam, nobody else put it in except Kabams developers

Fair point but everyone is getting a comp for arena but not everyone played? I am only complaining because I didn't exploit they claim it was an exploit but they put the rift their themselves and I didn't even take advantage of the rift

I didn't cheat the game and exploit is when a cheater cheats they put the rift selecter in their not us not me not you not anyone but their company and because nobody told me I grabbed a awakening gem crystal that's all I grabbed but I'm punished because they told me nothing about this, nobody warned me

Fair point but everyone is getting a comp for arena but not everyone played? I am only complaining because I didn't exploit they claim it was an exploit but they put the rift their themselves and I didn't even take advantage of the rift

In attempting the side quest at all, you were exploting a bug, whether it was obvious to you or not. You had access to rewards that the rest of us did not, so Kabam has made it fair by giving the compensation to ONLY those who didn't exploit the bug and gain extra rewards. You and others who exploited getting compensation would be like double rewards. That isn't fair, is it?

Okay. So if I'm understanding what you're saying correctly, you somehow got all of the rewards on day one. You didn't realize that it was a bug that you accidentally exploited, but you got the rewards.

Kabam discovered this, and instead of punishing you for it, they gave the same rewards that you accidentally got to everyone else.

How is this something you're mad over? Am I missing some fundamental injustice in this? What, exactly, is the problem? Because as far as I'm concerned, this all seems like Kabam simply leveled the playing field in a very pro-player way. No rewards were withdrawn - more were just added (to those who didn't encounter the bug). How on Earth are you discriminated against by them solving the situation this way? Have you not already gotten the rewards that people were compensated for now? Would you have rather not exploited the bug at the time and then gotten those rewards today instead?

I really, really fail to see what there's to be upset about here.

I have no idea why this complaint is still a thing. Yes, the rift exploit was due to a mistake on the part of Kabam. *All* exploits are due to mistakes on the part of the developers. It is *impossible* for an exploit to be due to a mistake introduced into the game on the part of the players, because the players don't develop the game. If there is a flaw in the game, it was put there by the people who made the game. This should be obvious.

The whole idea of an exploit is that a mistake is there and the players, either while knowing or when any reasonable person should have known, decide to leverage that mistake to gain far more rewards than obviously intentional. That's the definition of an exploit. It is basically the same definition for every game I've ever played.

Taking a further step back, the notion of exploitive behavior comes down to the fact that if you believe in the rule "if I can take it, I deserve to have it" you're wrong, and we'll prove you're wrong by punishing that behavior. That's true in most online games, and true in life in general. In fact, it is just true in life in general. Online games are just another activity played by real people in their real lives that honor the same convention as everything else. You're supposed to exercise good judgment. Online games are not some special exception to life that operates on Mad Max rules.
