Watching the livestream… are we getting Santa in december or am I falling for a misdirect?

Possibly! They did mention a new trophy champ coming but I'm pretty sure they said it wouldn't be related to the gifting event. So not sure if that'd mean a December release

december 2022 had one champ quest related.
but also saw Jessica Jones enter via the banquet event.

so i would expect the same here.
1 champ via story line as per normal.
and 1 champ (SANTA) via banquet crystal

While that's true, I just rewatched (part of) the stream and it was said that 1 trophy champ is coming that will be available EXCLUSIVELY via content, specifically mentioning that it won't be tied to the Banquet event

And them releasing 1 trophy champion once during December does not set a precedent that they will in the future, it may very well just be an exception

And I might very well be wrong ofcourse, this is all just speculation

They also said "wouldn't it be funny if I said misleading stuff to send them one way" in a very sarcastic tone, so that may very well be a misdirection. Because Onslaught is anything but jolly.

From the way I see it, everything points to Onslaught with them very clearly wanting you to think it'll be Santa as a joke

from the way i see it they want us to know its santa but without directly confirming it just to spark exactly this. interest and conversation.
like he really really wanted to tell us, but was unable to directly tell us and maybe said too much so had to try and misdirect to cover.

i have wanted Santa to come as a Xmas champ since EVER.
could not think of anything more fitting than opening christmas event crystals with the goal of getting a santa.

Honestly having Santa added to the game would be for me the most exciting character since Hercules. The only characters that would top that for me would be the original 31st century Guardians of the Galaxy

Maybe the trophy champ could be Santa, with the other champ being Onslaught. We could get two mutants in December.

Or the trophy champ could be Jean Grey or Dark Phoenix
