Mantis SP2 - what am I doing wrong?

No, I don’t have video. I get the charges fine. … hold heavy to sleep the defender. Then the inconsistency happens. I was interrupting the heavy after the second struck for the SP2. Had the defender start blocking it occasionally. “Well, maybe I am just slow”. - so started the safer interrupt after the first hit of the heavy…and just had torch block the whole special.

So is there some other trick? I thought with the first hit of the heavy I would be safe. Also perplexed the defender can block interrupted heavy specials.

Like I said, open to suggestions if I am missing the obvious.

Sounds like a bug, you need to get a vid somehow

Without a video, it'll be hard to accurately diagnose the problem, you could be hesitating just barely too long after the hit, or something could actually be wrong. With a video it'll be easier to tell the difference.

With 20 mixed emotions, you should have enough time to reach 10 fury stacks (AI champion should still be stunned/sleep) when you let go of heavy charge, after first or second hit.. immediately press special (hopefully you have at least two bar of power) and damage should be 100k or more.. OP, who were you fighting and what are the nodes? What game mode? AW, AQ, side quests, story, or battleground? more information should help us help you.

It's about luck, the hit block/stun duration is funky with mantis. I've had fights where the ai will dex from the stun before the heavy connects or throw thier sp3 before the special

This is honestly what I feared could be the case… and I why I am reluctant to use her in meaningful fights

So I have been using her various places trying to get used to her. It all worked perfectly in BG Match yesterday vs Herc. Just had to wait out the immortality after the SP2 as planned.

The torch fight was just AQ map 5 mini boss. Nothing crazy on the node. But I swear I have had the same thing happen in SQ and even when I was trying to learn her practicing against WS. It’s like the stun doesn’t stick and/or the defender is able to counter mid heavy.

So far for me, it's not much of an issue with Mantis.. it is like you said - just wait out immortality (or indestructible or protection or similar damage reduction effect nodes) that greatly reduce damage.. It's a timing thing when to use Mantis sp2 for maximum damage output.

For Morbius, once i initiate Morbius psionic glide; I noticed that AI will dashes back to avoid contact then immediately intercept and combo me for great damage.

Hope AI will not be given that much advantage after November update.
