7* Loyalty Crystal refresh time - 3 months?!

Hi Kabam,

I’ll keep this short. Please could you remove the extremely long refresh timer on Loyalty crystals? Mine is currently saying I need to wait 70 days to get another crystal.

There is absolutely no reason why we should have to wait so long to access this pool of champions, especially considering many of them are lacklustre without their awakened ability.

There is an important reason: Kabam doesn’t want to encourage/reward hoarding. The timer reflects an adequate time a player needs to accumulate 1.5 millions. If you hoarded way more from before, no benefit for you.

It takes me about 3 months so that's about right

But removing the timer resolves this. Those who have more loyalty stashed will spend it on the crystal and then be in the same boat as everyone else. Having this long to wait actually means that players like me will consistently have more loyalty hoarded because there isn’t anything else to spend it on.

If players have worked hard over the years to earn loyalty, it makes complete sense for Kabam to allow them to spend it on the 7* loyalty crystal as soon as they can afford to do so. Hoarding or not, we’ve still put in the time to earn the loyalty by playing their game.
They probably have the 70 day wait cause they dont want people that hoarded crazy amounts of loyalty prior to get 6 new 7 stars off the rip, compared to others having to slowly accumulate loyalty since they didn't hoard. Kabam has stood firm on their anti-hoarding agenda so this probably their counter measure. Plus there is plenty of other stuff to buy in the store

This would be fine so long as they create special opportunities to buy with loyalty like cap’s enlistment event.

War isn’t rewarding enough for me to spend significant loyalty on it, even in plat 3.

I spun two and got two Aarkus. Blah.

The overall design in this game is to promote player retention.
The rate of resource accumulation, expiration timers, and purchase limits promote players to keep playing over time.

Compare two players who can open 3 crystals - Player A opens a total of 3 over half a year, Player B opens all 3 today

Player A is essentially more locked into playing for 6 months, just so they can see what their 3rd pull will be. Player A will continue to accumulate loyalty during this time, and likely be somewhat close enough to do a 4th pull. This makes them more likely to keep playing as well.

    Player B can either:
    (1) Get Howard the Duck 3x and immediately stop playing the game.
    (2) Get Vision Aarkus 3x and consider not playing the game anymore
    (3) Get 2x of the same champion and 1x new champion and maybe keep playing
    (4) Get 3x new champions and keep playing.
Player B will have close to 0 loyalty at this point, and will not feel like they are close to another loyalty crysta.

It is psychologically manipulative, but you can totally see that with Purchase limits, the company is more guaranteed that a player will keep playing, versus the higher chances that a player will stop playing if there are no limits.

I have got Vision Aarkus once, just 2 more times and i can stop playing. I will miss the game though.

Remember there are still a large number of people who mistakenly received 20+ million loyalty. Now a lot of people without a lot of foresight bought UC and duped him 10 times but a, lot are just sitting on it.

Is just silly, really. All this stuff about "hoarding = bad" but then they keep encouraging it, don't even let us spend it effectively

    Currencies are not hoarding though.

    When did they change this?...
I could swear I bought 2 since release...

If the timer was removed, then the cost would be a lot higher due to loyalty having no limit on how much you can have. Your choices were have it cost an insanely stupid amount of loyalty, or have it cost 1.5mil with a long cooldown.

Many of us did. You purchased one in the Cap’s commissary event and the other in the loyalty store. But the normal method is the loyalty store and waiting out the timer.

I appreciate all the thoughts, guys.

I still believe the timer is unwarranted, but I think it’s very interesting to see these alternative perspectives.

    Thanks for chiming in 👍🏽
