*Concept*
I think Cloak & Dagger should be one singular character with a unique mechanic that enables them to switch mid battle with each other. It’d make sense that Cloak is the more defensive/evasive while Dagger is the more offensive of the pairing.
Abilities
Cloak: falter, intangible/invisible, flip controls, degeneration
Dagger: rupture, rupture burst, stun, regeneration
* there should be a combination of the diverse abilities once the special 3 is used. I imagine for their special 3 it would be a cinematic combo attack from both characters.
Switching mechanic:
Pre-awakening the switch mechanic can play off the use of special attacks. Special 1 can be dedicated solely to one of them while special 2 is solely for the other. Special 3 can be used to switch between the 2 based on which one is currently in the fight. Come awakening the player could double tap block to switch between them for convenience & it would help keep whichever desirable champ on the field for the given fight.
For the initial battle I think it’d be fair to choose who to start with pre fight as it gives the player options off the get go if Cloak & Dagger are their choice for champ. For any type of defence I think Dagger should start off to get as much damage as possible on the attacking champ while above 50% health. Once below 50% on defence pre-fight it should default to Cloak as they are meant to be more on the defensive side using tricks to slowly widdle down the attacking champ.
Dagger:
Combos: during Dagger’s combos she has a % chance at dealing rupture. After landing enough ruptures (maybe 5-10) a rupture burst occurs dealing cumulative damage based on what all ruptures would typically amount to over their duration.
Heavy: holding Dagger’s heavy attack for a set amount of time (I’m not a developer idk what a reasonable amount of time would be) the % chance of Dagger inflicting a stun debuff on the opposing champ increases with a set time (again, not sure what’s reasonable) which would grant 100% accuracy on stunning the opposing champ.
Taking damage: after Dagger takes considerable damage she has a % chance to receive a regeneration bonus restoring X% of health over X second(s).
* I don’t imagine it would be a lot given their HP should be on the medium side but also regenerating too much could be an issue for balancing. *
Cloak:
Combos: the higher Cloak’s combo meter gets he removes invisibility/intangible charges which will help get his invis/intang ready for use on offence.
* on defence it would work inversely where the more Cloak is struck the more charges are removed before his invis/intang kicks off.*
Heavy: a heavy attack from Cloak puts a degeneration debuff on the opposing champ dealing X% base attack damage to opposing champs.
* similar to Omega Red’s heavy attack. However the debug can be reset on another heavy attack & the rebuff is paused during special attacks. *
Taking damage: as previously mentioned Cloak taking damage on the defence removes charges for his invis/intang granting the buff. However during either offence or defence after Cloak is struck by a special attack from the opposing champ a falter charge is placed on him that, once the opposing champs attempts to strike Cloak again, will activate the falter enabling Cloak to either block or evade.
Specials:
* there isn’t a specific order to these specials, whether Cloak’s special is 1 or 2 is irrelevant. Same with Dagger’s being 1 or 2, the objective of the specials before awakening is to switch between the 2. *
Special 1: Dagger lunges at the opposing champ before spring boarding off them flinging down a bunch of light daggers causing mass rupture damage/rupture bursts to the opposing champ. This special would also send Dagger into the battle.
Special 2: Cloak vanishes in darkness before appearing & striking the opposing champ with a combo. This causes degeneration rebuff on opposing champ. This special would send Cloak in.
* during this special while Cloak is on defence would cause control reversal on the player. *
Special 3: the opposing champ would attempt to strike Cloak, after avoiding multiple strikes light daggers shoot out from Cloak’s body prompting Dagger to dive through continuing to throw daggers at the opposing champs. While throwing daggers Cloak vanishes & appears behind the opposing champ who is desperately trying to block the daggers. Cloak lays a hand on the opposing champ & a wash of fear befalls the opposing champ, letting their guard down & being struck by a few more light daggers before collapsing having Cloak vanish & appear next to Dagger for the end of the special. This special would have rupture burst, place a degeneration debuff & stun the opponent for X amount of time. This would also cause which ever champ wasn’t currently being used to switch out for the one that was in use before the special 3 was activated.
Synergies:
Untouchables: Hood, Invisible Woman, Viv Vision
(I would prefer it reduce Cloak’s invis/intang charges to enable them to activate more frequently. What it does for the others is beyond me)
Sharp Enthusiasts: Elektra, Valkyrie, Guillotine
(I’d like it to have something to do with Dagger’s ruptures, like increase their duration or potency I’d imagine… not sure about the other champs)
Without Light: Sentry, Iron Man(infamous), Cyclops(blue)
(Would have something to do with Dagger’s regen having either greater duration or potency. Not sure about the other champs)
There Would Be No Dark: Void, Dr. Doom, Cyclops(red)
