How do you rate Jessica as a BGs defender? And do you think ascenscion/r5 can help?

So she's obviously not Photon or Maestro level, but where do you rate her compared to the typical annoying defenders (Korg, Thing, Domino, Attuma, KM etc)

The second part of the question regarding ascenscion/r5 is because the more health she has the longer the fight goes (and the more combat power rate meaning more specials to stall). She gets more annoying as the fight is stalled.

She gets nuked if they have a counter but there arent *that* many slow or cleanse champs, but almost everyone runs AA so it's a bit of a gray area to me.

I just got her and still trying to figure her out. In vt a massacre took her out r4 in 35 seconds. But in gc of this season she’s a menace since aa couldnt really even take her. If they don’t have a counter then she’s so good, but with a counter (aa, valk etc) she’s dog. I think I will r5 her after scorp to be a sneaky last pick defender like mephisto

IMO she's decent, but if you have better defenders like, as you said, Photon or Maestro, I'd go with them instead

Jessica undeniably holds her ground as one of the preeminent science defenders.Attackers like Shang-Chi, possessing cleanse abilities, or those countering unstoppable, such as Shang-Chi, Stealthy, Valkyrie etc can efficiently handle her. Archangel can swiftly dismantle Jessica as well. Even without unstoppable counter she can be countered too. I use Hercules,Kate bishop,kingpin against her as well.If u can play around when she’s unstoppable she’s no biggie, but in that way that may take relatively more time to defeat her.
She’s so tanky because of her Resistance buffs. Elevating her status through ascension accentuates her innate tankiness. Then you might want to bring the most obvious counters for her otherwise you’ll get timeout most of the time.
While Photon is a viable choice due to her versatility, the decision depends on your priorities, whether you want a solid defender or a champion who can also excel as an attacker in BGs. If u r kind of competitive in bgs then I’d say u should consider ascending Jessica after Photon.

To be clear, I already have Photon at r5 ascended.

I was looking into Jessica as an option for
my next defensive investment, but I also have mephisto and thing as choices too. (Both are r4 sig 200)

Jessica is an unpredictable defender plus being a rare champ not many have her so she can trip up people on defense

Y'all are Rankin up defenders? Do you focus on GC? Any paragon and above player can pass Victory track easily with a decent roster.

It helps clearing VT a lot easier with good defenders. GC is a horrible grind on the last day so I sometimes skip it

Jessica is a good defender that requires a niche counter. Yes, valk counters her directly, but she basically forces a counter.

I took Jessica to R5 and ascended her. She gets me wins in BGs a decent chunk of the time.

She requires them to draft a direct counter, but many of those counters are already in decks. But, it can also take a counter away from a different champ you draft (looking at you AA)

I don't have photon though.

Another thing I think of when ascending champs is if they are available as a 7 star (or I think they will be soon).

So I ascended both of my trophies (jessica and wpn x, OG vision is next) because I am unlikely to get them as a 7 anytime soon

Champs like herc and doom are also unlikely to be available as 7s, so they also got ascended.

Definitely worth it I think

Also, Jessica is a fun champ to play on offense and does a pretty decent job. I have her r5 ascended and use her both ways fairly often.

The forcing a counter is a good point but like you said a lot of the counters she forces are already ran in decks, but that could still mean preventing them from drafting another attacker or defender that they would have

Curious, do you think she forces a counter better than Thing, Mephisto, and Fury? Or has less counters than them.

Id say less.
thing: while is an amazing defender, has many more counters (except in certain metas he is a real pita)
meph: amazing defender, but has several counters now. Not to mention, 7* mystics imo are a better investment.
Fury: great two way champ, but except in few metas, has the most number of counters, since you can actually fight him with anyone, and good play.

EDIT: Imo Fury is probably the best to ascend, since he is such a great two way champ, as are each and every one of these champs. I just feel like Jess is a niche defender that, in BGs requires either Valk, Cheeith, Shang or AA. But a case can be made for each of these champs. All of them are good

I forgot to mention i run 1 in DW only so Nick would be a lot less of an attacker and mainly for defensive purposes, if that changes your vote

As for Mephisto, he has counters but a lot less than any other mystic defender as you ideally want an incinerate immune. The science class has nukes that take the whole mystic class but its only torch thats incinerate immune. Also hes unique in that hes the only mystic that can’t be nuked in 1 hit.

I do have a duped R1 maw though that ive been debating ranking over mephisto regarding your point about prioritizing the 7 star mystics

She absolutely needs more niche counters than thing and fury...

Mephisto is harder to blitz and takes a different counter than most other annoying defenders... not worth the ascension though

Yeah i agree. Thats why im not a fan of ranking them, they def all have their merits.

regarding Maw, ive seen enough great footage from KamMcoc, and DLL to warrant that he is a great two way champ too. Just attach the GR relic and he is really good.

Can you provide any links? If im not mistaken his rotation is sp1 twice then parry them and right before the falter is on like at 19 throw the sp2? How often do you heavy for power gain as opposed to regular combos?

Ive never actually tried it so idk how tricky it is to get the extra degens from sp2 into falter as his special has a bit of a delay. Also missing the GR relic as a 5 or 6 star rarity. Got a ton of unopened 4star relic crystals though if the 4 star still works

I wish i did. All ive seen is clips, just not on youtube.
The 4* should work. I havent tested it out myself, i should though.
the idea is to heavy at the start and throw sp2 when falter is up, for the most part.

I don't know if it's been fixed but right now ascending her wouldn't make a difference in defence, shed have the same health regardless. Was a few posts about it last week, using photon as an example.

Depends on the Meta. I have her at Sig 200, and even with a lack of Immunity, she got a few Players. She's amazing when she's the right fit.

Does it still activate if the special was to knock them out in 1 hit like hulks sp2?

If so then yeah I should’ve included him. Overall though I think mephisto is the better defender over Kindred as without an incinerate immune he stalls a lot longer

I've used Kindred's ability to tank a Sp3 before. Kindred doesn't require a counter like Mephisto does, but with the right counter, I prefer fighting Mephisto over Kindred

Mine is "R6" (R5 + ascended), max sig, and has been banned a LOT in every season since I got her last April. JJ is annoying on defense. I think most players go ahead and ban her so they don't have to risk dealing with her, just in case their counters to her get banned too lol
