Is Nick Fury still a Threat on Defense?

Context is in BGs

Back when dust was more rare, a lot of people r5 ascended him to be a dual threat that would mainly be for defense.

However it seems like he’s fallen out a bit, as even despite Dani being a giant mess of a champ, a lot of champs can still nuke Nick down like Herc/Hulkling/KP/CGR/Sunspot/Masacre etc. Hes also pretty useless on defense if they have AA.

So whats your thoughts? Is he still a defensive threat? I’m trying to decide if I should ascend him or another defender like Jessica, Korg, Thing, Domino, Attuma or Mephisto. (Already have all of these at r4 sig 200 and not a single pull of Domino Korg or Attuma as 7 stars yet)

For me, not really. I rarely get caught off guard by his unblockable nowadays so it's just a long fight without a strong counter but that's it.
I'd probably pull the trigger on Mephisto or Jessica if what you want is a really strong defender (they obviously won't be dual threat in BGs but they will be very strong defenders). Do keep in mind next BGs meta will be all about skill champs so might not be the best idea to ascend Jessica since you will see a lot of Zemos Shangs Mole-Men HMs and KPs

None of his top counters can take him out in less than a minute, He definitely stalls. I do believe dani can take her out with a single sp2, but others can't.

Don’t forget Peni Parker as counter, she shuts his 2 life off, and AA is normaly a instaban in BG.

I got a R4 200 sig ascended NF…it takes some time to kill him, and if you’re not lucky with his power and tactical charges, you’re in for some tap dancing and time wasting…

But duped high sig Korg will create more problems…

He still stalls, but I’ve found him to be easier and easier. Still a defensive threat though, and the AI can make it way harder by throwing sp1’s

Are you fighting people without AA in their deck? Mine is usually never banned and he’s r5; but they usually have an AA as well. Most of the time they’re too hellbent on banning my Maestro, Onslaught, and Werewolf (at least this past season).

Yeah I forgot about Peni, especially now that shes a 7* , that’s another super fast option like AA. But i guess in the right matchup against a non counter he can still be decent on defense

I would ban those champs to, last season…next season, not so much…

My R4 King Groot & AA, and R5 Angela, are my most banned champs…

I can name a lot of champs who can take nf within 60-70s(can be quicker) in bgs without any trouble- AA,sunspot, onslaught, Kate, werewolf, massacre,herc,Tigra, stealthy,crossbones,juggy,black cat,toad,bishop, Chavez, Galan, Domino, starky, cgr,hulkling etc

So nf isn’t really a threat anymore to many ppl. I’d rather consider ascending Mephisto/JJ instead of him for the next meta.

He definitely is. Even with a counter you have to fight fast since time is an issue with him, which increases the chance of messing up. I don’t have him and I ban him everytime if I can. When I don’t they always draft him and I’ll normally lose.

Besides the safeguard meta, the last time I lost to a NF wasn't even due to time, it was because I was playing safe and lost 20% health in his second life from block damage. Quite a few counters exist currently for him, so he hasn't been a problem for me in a long time. Most of my defenders are capable of stalling long enough for me to beat NF, and if I don't have a defender who can stall, then I'll just throw that round.

He isn't so much a threat to fight, more a fight for your timer. His second life makes it take significantly longer to kill him, and since we're talking about this in the context of BGs, the timer is extremely important. I've lost to NF plenty of times, mostly because of the timer. In other modes he's not much of an issue, but in BGs he's just a really annoying defender, and IMO is pretty irritating to go against

If your opponent is good with a good draft it won't matter.

For anyone else, yes, and you can melt stuff using him on attack.

1. Hits like a truck 🧨💥🔥
2. DOT immune.
3. Nullify immune.
4. Autoblock immune.
5. Can parry - stun non - contact attacks.

She can finish and counter a lot of champs pretty fast.

Honestly I don’t think Nick is as future proof of a defender as some people may make him seem to be. His main purpose on defense is stalling but as we get more 7 stars and as those get taken to rank 2, Nick will be taken down really fast.

Whereas if you ascended someone like Attuma at s200 , he has more health so not only can he not be nuked by as fast, but there will be more thorns damage. And yes he has a 7 star but at s200 he starts off with 2 concussions which helps a lot for defense.

Even an ascended Korg is probably more of a threat than NF (even though he may not be as good of an ascension choice as Attuma)

He isn't really a hard defender just a time staller sometimes.

He does stall, but his counters can take him out in under a minute. If you can time AA right or get lucky with some crits from other counters, you can do it in less

That's interesting. I've never had my r4 ascended banned, and even my 7r2, when put in for pure damage, hasn't been banned.
