Luke update

I saw some ccp gameplay and it looks nice, but please we need this man to have incinerate immune, he gets blown up by a rocket and lit by gasoline in his bar and walks off fine, there’s still time to add it before the next update launches. He should probably be armor break immune too…

In game immunities cannot mimic the extent of comic book/tv/movie representation. Every other champion would be indestructible.

They added incinerate immunity to ghost rider on a whim instead of actually buffing him, they could easily do the same for Luke, that’s not being spoiled that’s making his in game abilities more accurate, which many characters still need by the way…

Another guy made of fire isn't incinerate immune either. It's just a game with made up characters it doesn't have to make sense.

Then you know how this works. They aren't going to make everyone completely comic accurate. They also give good counters to newest meta defenders later on down the line. Just because Bullseye and photon are wrecking you now doesn't mean it'll be that way forever. Remember when korg and thing tore everyone a new one constantly? Do they now? Use your brain.

If every champion were as powerful as their comic counterparts, the game would be unbalanced. Characters like Kate Bishop and Nick Fury would be meme tier while Sentry and Dormammu would be beyond god tier

A primary way that the Skill class does damage is through damage over time effects, primarily bleed and, to a lesser extent others such as incinerate, shock, and coldsnap. Historically speaking, Science champions with bleed immunity have presented tankier matchups when faced with Skill champs. Adding incinerate immunity to a Science champion who is already bleed immune further reduces the number of effective counters in the class that is supposed to counter him.

And before somebody comes in here saying “Luke’s not a good defender though, what does that matter?” consider that proposition is only valid in limited contexts. Luke Cage is arguably the worst fight in the Abyss (except the Nameless Grandmaster). Any champion can be made into a monstrous defender if Kabam decides to build out the fight.

Does this “destroy game balance?” No, nothing so dramatic. But it does run counter to the class identities that Kabam has been building into for the last few years, and those identities exist for a reason.

Again adding an immunity to a debuff isn’t breaking the game, there’s no real issue if it happens, at least give him a synergy like Titania is bleed immune with abs man, would be a fair compromise

Luke is already bleed immune. The skill champs who inflict incinerate are massacre, Elsa, moon dragon, winter soldier, agent venom, gwenpool, crossbones and night thrasher. Of these, Elsa and massacre have a way of getting around this(Elsa can inflict coldsnap and massacre does energy damage if they are immune to incinerate). Gwenpool and winter soldier are barely used by anyone except maybe in arena. That leaves moon dragon, agent venom(who is useless without the kraven/scorpion synergy) crossbones and night thrasher who are somewhat decent.
Now for science champs- several of them have dual immunities and sandman particularly has 3 immunities which counter the argument that skill champs are countered by immunities to debuffs inflicted by skill champs.
And the argument that skill should counter science every time is defeated by examples of champs in other classes who can beat the abilities of opponents from their adjacent class who are supposed to counter them. Eg., magneto vs most metal tech champs, galan being immune to nullify and fate seal.
Kabam doesn’t want to give him immunity is good enough reason not to do it. But justifying this using game balance is not really an argument one can make logically I feel.

I’d take able to block unblockable physical projectiles with X Exhaustions. Seems like a big guy who’s bulletproof and has nigh impenetrable skin could make a go at that.

Let me say first that I haven't watched any of the CCP videos. What I would say is that just off of what's being said here in this thread that he shouldn't have immunity except for bleed.

The reason I say this is because he's resistant to those other things.

What I would suggest, if he hasn't already been done, is add a passive Regen when his indestructible activates and heals him for a portion of damage taken. Part of his abilities is faster recovery times.

It just adds to the quality of the game and its not huge. It fits for his class advantage too for skills and fits in with science class well. I guess all you people against in to hard the one that are for a Herc nerft too huh. I guess we will see how good Luke ends up acually being. He better be fricken great if incinerate immune is going to break him.
