6*s were around for 5.5 years...we're 1 year in to 7*s and halfway through the rarity.

7* shard economy far exceeds what we had with 6*s, we have new valiant crystals, and act 9 is coming out which implies introduction of t7b which probably means spenders might have an r4 during gifting.

r5s by dec 2025 and r6s by dec 2026?

that's 3.5 years...

we were skeptical with 7*s but challenger rating and stat focus saved them, i'm just not sure many want 8*s this fast.

I think Kabam (and many players) believe it took a bit too long for 7s to arrive. If 6s were here for about 5.5 years before the introduction of 7s, I would not be surprised if 8s came along within four years of 7s introduction as a result.

I'm not even gonna ask about mobile games cause I can probably count them with my fingers. If you've played other video games in general other than mcoc you'd know 80% of them die down before the ten year mark.

In theory, a new rank should be made available to at least top spenders once per year. 18 months at most for ftp.

F2P players cannot get access to ranks slower than spenders. They can lag behind, but their top accessible rank cannot unlock slower. If you think about it, if F2P unlocked ranks slower, then eventually they would be two whole ranks behind, then three, then four, then finally an entire rarity behind.

And there's something to be said for the way Kabam rolled out Valiant, where F2P and spenders got access to R3 at essentially the same time. It was easier for spenders, and they could get more of them than F2P, but both unlocked the tip of the spear simultaneously.

To be fair, there aren’t as many games that are as big as MCOC out there. Kabam has a big property here and they could keep this going for a long time. The only other mobile games that were as big as this one were games like Injustice, and that was only killed off in favor of a sequel + there’s already a console version. I think that as long as marvel is popular, mcoc won’t die. Unless Kabam suddenly collapses or something

All these takes efforts to make develop,test ,fix & still there is not enough revenue generated.

So events like
- Act 8 offers
- Pooliea event offers
- Omega Days offers
- next July 4th offers in plan

+ All planned from watching top alliance spenders to the Avg players who doesn't spend.

As kabam wants more active players + make profits.

1. Non popular characters aren't going to bring in as many new players as popular characters for obvious reasons.
2. I mentioned the MCU in reply to someone saying Marvel in general is a huge deal, which it is right now but with the MCU crumbling down that popularity will start to die down if you don't read comics.
3. It could, but if it takes them six years to release 8* I don't think it will be as easy to keep people interested in the game as you think. The reaction from the playerbase when 7* we're announced was even bigger than when Necropolis was announced, champ rarity is one of the things that keeeps the game alive.

I absolutely agree with every single thing you've said, it is entirely possible for the game to survive another six, ten years even. However, none of the games you mentioned would've survived if it wasn't for the updates.
Game modes are the #1 thing of course (which mcoc does have), new characters are the second most important thing (mcoc also has this), however I'd argue that in mcoc's case champ rarity is up there with new characters because champ rarity is just as important and it keeps the game alive.
The game has crossed that ten year mark and imo they can't risk it and wait another six years to release 8*, this obviously doesn't mean releasing them in the next three years either. The way I see it is they will need to speed up the process to some extent, 8* waiting time should be a bit shorter than the 7* especially since it's barely been a year and p2w already have multiple r3 7*. Remember how long it took us to get the first bunch of r3 6* when they were first released? So far it does look like they're speeding up the process a bit, they aren't rushing it but they have been speeding it up a bit, and I hope they continue to do so just not on every single p2w event.

They have signaled that they intend to go faster than they did with 6* champs, but I believe this is less about 8s, and more about progression in general. Which is to say, I believe the devs feel that rungs on the progression ladder, which are the intertwined elements of progression titles and rank up tiers, need to move forward at a higher pace. The arrival of 8s is going to come quicker not directly, but indirectly as part of the process of the progression ladder extending upward quicker.

New rarities reset the champion chase meta game, so they are important. But they are interconnected with progression titles, and progression titles in general are a separate and equally important chase incentive.

This is a change in development direction, and it signals some interesting changes in the future of the game. Speed was originally seen as problematic, because it made the game taller and the devs could only support so much continuous height in the game. It would be analogous to a building maintenance company that could only maintain a building with so many floors. They seem less afraid of speed now, which implies one of two things. One: they think they can service more floors in a building than before, which seems unlikely. Two: they aren't going to service every floor equally. That seems more likely, vis-a-vis early game acceleration.

I'm willing to get a fair amount of the player base doesn't read comics and only plays because of the MCU. So whether a champion that comes to the game is "popular" doesn't mean much. I think more people want fun champion designs like the newest summoners choice champion. NTW isn't a small, small, small part of the MCU and a completely different character in the comics and she's already well received because of what she can do to Bullseye. Which is another example. Bullseye isn't a high profile character in the comics either but he's popular in this game.

Many of the popular champions in this game aren't the biggest stars in either of the MCU or the comics.

I'm willing to bet more people like it because they can play as comic characters. This game offers more replay value than other games and isn't as much of a grind.

Marvel Strike Force and Marvel Future Fight have become incredible grinds just to stay relevant. The replay value is very low because it's super repetitive.
