I'm sure there's an explanation but...

OK, help me out here.

I had a Battlegrounds match where I used America Chavez vs Red Skull. What was weird was that when I tried to throw her heavy after only 1 or 2 basic attacks, it didn't inflict the stun and I got punched in the face, but when throwing it after a full MLLL it worked fine.

Is there some mechanic I'm missing, or what?

A variety of things could be in play depending on which meta you're in .. GC right now it could have been one of the debuffs on you that affected it ... it also could depend on how many armor ups that Red Skull has ... each armor he has decreases your ability to stun him.

Red skull buff has stun chance reduce doesnt matter if passive or not he can ignore stun effects with each armor up

Chavez can work for Red Skull, but it's a little annoying. You get lots of attack from his buffs, but they reduce the damage of non crits by a lot. If you heavy counter his sp1 you can get some dimensions up, and with the striker you can heavy into your sp2, but you do need some good crit rng to get him down quickly

He reduces stun AAR for for each armor up. Still chavez is a beast for that fight. Get two of those orange dimension up and she reverses armor up potency, So skull takes for damage for each armor on him.

Yeah it wasn't a great match-up, partly because I'm not great with her yet - even not counting the stun reduction. He was drafted as their last pull and I had awful RNG with my attackers. Live and learn!

Ooh, I keep forgetting the orange ones reduce Armour, I was focussing on the Purple ones to reduce his usage of specials. Thanks!
