Does anyone know what the deal is with the timer on the Reunion Crystals?

I’ve been around long enough to be familiar with them launching at the time the new calendar drops (so 8pm my time).

But why in the hell is the first crystal I can claim available at a random time like 9:34pm?

The time starts when you logi in the first time for when you login after the event starts
