what is the point of having multiple tokens for the side quest?

I thought the point was to make side quest design simpler. We gotta do fights, to get a token, to enter a quest, to randomly get a path, unless we have a different token, which we use to pick a path in order to 100% the map.
How about this instead: we have a sidequest with 3 paths and 0 teleporters and 0 entry fees.
Same thing but so much simpler. Am I the only one confused about why these side quests are done in such a convoluted way? Didn't kabam want side quests to be easier to understand? stop overcomplicating everything.

In my opinion tho, This makes rift kind of boring and unnecessary because everyone gets the rewards in the end.
It's such a simple process Kabam, why do you insist on adding additional steps and creating opportunities for people to fail?
