The disagrees on anyone that voted 2019-2022 lmao new players really have no idea how fun the game was back then in general compared to this year, sad.
2023 and 2024 had better and fun content. the older years are great with champ releases.
-trying alliance war for the first time (OG pre-seasons map) -content like the maze. relatively garbage rewards but it was amazing and came out at a time where defenders were difficult (korg, the champion, mephisto) and we didn't have multiple copies of every tool in our rosters -transitioning from a low end struggling plat player to hitting masters, which was a huge achievement for me at the time and haven't felt that accomplished since
my enjoyment peaked 5 years ago because i was still new to the endgame and didn't feel like i belonged so any success was highly valued. the game was still growing and we didn't figure it all out like we do now.
think that's the problem for me. we're too good, we've experienced all the mechanics and every node many times over, nothing's a surprise, everything's figured out and explained on day one if needed, and we're kind of going through the motions a little.
if i could reset all memories and play it all over i would, although it's a much different game now than before (so many champs!) so not sure if i'd get the same good feelings.

I didn't do any disagreeing, but as a newer player who started in early 2023 (and is now valiant) I did enjoy the last 2 years, even with the extra ****
end game is a tiny fraction of players but is there any way we could recreate those conditions with the hopes that it's still as fun?
this goes against monetization which is probably an immediate dead end but maybe have a season of classic AW? 2017 war map, only 2017 and below champions. same with 2018, 2019, etc.
or maybe create a piece of content that even endgame players will struggle with. nothing like a potion dump like carina's VOL 1., but stuff that we haven't seen yet. maybe ban our entire rosters and maybe give us 5 or 6 champs that are re-skins of deadpooloids or doombots or something (basically blank champions) and let us use them in a quest with really new stuff that we struggle with. much easier said that done i'm sure haha.
Kabam definitely shouldn't cater to those who pay. All that does is make the game more imbalanced and unfair
This is an extremely naive opinion.
How is it that you think you are able to play this very well made and maintained game without ads for free?
The game is funded by paying players. If they stop paying/funding the game, say goodbye to free or say hello to ads.
But what about the rest of us? If Kabam only caters to the paying player base, they will be the only ones who get meaningful rewards, which will drive new (potentially paying) players away from the game
Potential paying players? The whole forum is full of people bragging about being F2P for years, at what point does the "potential" kick in?... Your forum account says you joined in 2021 in the forums so, you have played at least 3 years. Saw you on the Plat track saying that you won't even consider paying 10 bucks for it, at what point are you going to become a "potential" paying customer?
By making this game catered to pay to win players, the rewards will of course improve depending on how much you pay. All that does is wreck the f2p experience, and discourages new potential players from joining unless they are prepared to spend large amounts of money. This won't just discourage f2p's from playing, but casual spenders will be less inclined to spend as well.
I'm not saying pay to win features are bad, because they aren't. They're necessary for any game that's free to download, and helps keep MCOC afloat. What I have an issue with is Kabam making the game entirely oriented towards pay to win players, because that's not healthy for the game in the long run.
The game Clash Royale is a perfect example of this: They started off pretty fair for all players just like MCOC, with them only implementing slightly pay to win mechanics because it was necessary for the game to continue to thrive and be profitable. However, over time, the devs got greedy and started catering more towards spending players, which discourages f2p and casual spenders from playing the game. Kabam is thankfully not going in that direction, but Kabam catering exclusively to pay to win players would inevitably result in a Clash Royale-like scenario.

Who cares? Yes, paying players will get the best rewards, as it should be. How would it drive away new players?
You think you should get the same rewards as someone spending money on the game?
That’s ridiculous. You should be thankful to the players spending and not whine about being behind them.
I’m curious. How is it that you think the people that make this game pay their employees?
I don't believe pay to win mechanics are necessarily bad, I just don't want MCOC to be catering exclusively to pay to win players. It is of course necessary for free games to implement some way to incentivize players to spend, but you're just saying that Kabam should only be focusing on making the game pay to win, which alienates a huge portion of the playerbase who don't want to spend. It makes the game unfun, which would be detrimental to MCOC in the long run.
Wasn’t 2021-2022 the years of the massive control issues and Kabam switching game engines or something?
Although I’m sure this will trigger the haters to jump out from hiding and say “what do you mean bro, the control issues never stopped” 🙄
July 2021 was when someone at Kabam updated unity when it shouldn't have been updated which caused major issues for iOS devices because unity used to have a bug with iOS inputs that kabam created a workaround for. The issue was the update to Unity fixed that bug which suddenly broke inputs for iOS players.
As far as gameplay, 2019 was superior. No lags, freezes, random parries or light intercept god Ai.
As far as content, definitely 2023-24. Grandmasters Gauntlet is probably my favorite piece of content (judging it by when it came out), but Crucible and Necropolis are 2nd n 3rd for me… all the bi-weekly big fights that I believe started with way back with Eternity of Pain and is now consistent, is awesome. (Except that AbMan fight objective when u couldn’t use science lol).
Also don’t love that this years champs seem undertuned, but the odd years always seem to produce stronger champs than even (19,21 and 23 champs were 🔥), so hopefully 2025 continues that trend…
…and hopefully it’s lead in strength by Blue Marvel
2023 was a good year, arguably one of the best… outside of infight issues… 2024 while there’s a lot of exciting Everest and Story events has been one of the worst for AW and BGs. I can’t combine these years into one time period.
In fight bugs are the worse than when input drops were regular but compensation is a dirty word… the introduction of cancerous defenders that aren’t puzzling just punishing, and a string of disappointing new champs are the hallmarks of 2024 despite the great solo content the team has released and revamped. And the balance team has been asleep at the wheel far far too often on new champs while knocking it outta the park with revamping old ones…
Ptw- cancerous defenders have made BGs a repetitive slog fest, where the purse had too much power.
AW tactics and blacklists have been horrific in general. Even if the tactic itself is reasonable the attacker pool is gimped worse than Forrest Gump before he breaks outta those leg braces.
Lastly in 2024 there is the deathless chase, which has kept people engaged it’s also not providing champs that are exciting people to keep up with it. Deathless Guilly being simply prebuff but with Degens is a dull initial release, even if she’s better than people think… she’s still dull. DKG in my opinion is a W, he’s a great twist on the Original kit with fun additions. But D.Vision is depressingly bad, all the same problems as the original with half the utility. It’s gonna fall on Death Shulk and Thanos to save this concept otherwise I don’t see another one being successful.
2023 had and active and engaged balance team. That put out Ws regularly when champs weren’t embraced. An absolute banger of a year for releases, and had all the excitement of a new rarity that was implemented to near perfection.
@InfamousPlayer just a piece of advice don’t spam like that. Also imo 2019-2022 was the peak period. I was able to get a lot of my friends to play it, but then around 2023 they stopped.

If only some of that content hadn't been bugged or overturned to hell, it's not just champ releases that ruined 2024. The bugs, AI issues and overtuned fights (specifically talking about WoW Abs Man yes) also ruined it for me.

That's what you get with a 10-year mobile game, usually mobile games don't age this well. I'm surprised MCOC has lasted this long since it released in 2014

I agree there but at the same time, look at how much money they make by literally milking the whales with every p2w event. This game is no longer your average mobile game, it's become what other mobile games like Clash of Clans have become, timeless. The fact that this year sucked so hard is surprising and sad at the same time.

Variants are the best piece of content they ever made. I really wanna see more of them tailored to current difficulty and reward pool

These two things shouldn’t be together.
