Also not sure if this is inputs hit boxes or AI but I’m noticing a lot more of my back drafts whiff, where my light attack is ignored and the defenders dash is registered instead. Super fun.
I have experienced a lot of backdraft intercepts by the AI. The AI heavy recovery and block speed also seems to be very fast. I have noticed this against Dust especially. Her heavy and blocks are very fast. I am also getting special intercepted quite frequently. Previously the AI would prefer to block when dashing in but now it prefers to throw the special instead. Which is a change I have observed recently.
Sry @KabamDork, but we know that song for a very long time and we all know what will happening.
Not meant as an offense. I know that you inherited this topic. But actions speak louder than words, and actions from Kabam on this matter are very, very rare
Playing BGs after the update on AI should be added to Geneva convention, it's pure torture. It's the worst I've ever seen (yet). Can't wait to get in GC, get the deathless piece and do the minimum in BGs, 1 victory for the banquet ticket.
The new ai plus the constant lags that seem to plague the game now after the new update has made the game in one of its worst playable state ever for me.
Before this update the only champions that I'd experience heavy lag with was dust ( generally heavy vfx champs). Now it's almost every fight is a laggy mess.
Now ads to this the ai special intercepting in the middle.of dash forwad, using a special.in the middle.of the combination and doing weird things in general
Kabam claims that the AI's actions are RNG based, from what I'm reading, it seems that the AI RNG is pretty spot on perfect to whatever it needs to do to damage the player.
Absolutely agree. All these talks about the game team investigating is just mitigating community feedback and outrage, as they programmed this hypercharged AI in the first place. This has been Kabam's MO for the last few years now. Gaming the gamers, if you will.
Hey all, I see your post. Let me get this in front of the game team as I know they're also investigating similar reports.
It's been going on for months. But the community isn't dumb, we know why fixes don't happen when the AI is broken, because it makes Kabam money. It's pretty blatant and obvious, when there's a bug that helps players It's fixed within days, sometimes even hours after it's been brought to Kabams attention. I work in software development, I know for a fact this AI behavior is programmed to act this way because the AI intercepts and does this annoying stuff flawlessy across the entire player base.
Word. Kabam thinks we're fools not to see through their farcical shams.
I'll just add that I've also seen some quirky things such as specials not being activated. I've never seen it before though I swear I'm trying to activate a special in the same way I've always done only for the input not to register.

So with this confirm AI change of @KabamDORK , is it the true that all of the statement made by Miike and Jax before about “ We never changed AI” just frankly LIE to the community?
You know… I foolishly was hopeful after the post yesterday but it’s worse than ever. 4 matches in a row of passive AI that’s faster than me and has attacks that are effectively cover twice the space they used too.
It’s worse than it was. And I’m starting to give up hope and interest. This sucks. It’s my favorite meta in my favorite game mode and not only is it no longer fun but I’m getting tired of even trying to find the fun.

The problem is I don’t understand and suspect about their intention is they acknowledge about how crappy the AI is now but they created a champion like Enchantress which force us have to intercept! Really confuse.

If it bothers people that much, I'd say limit your playing time. I play less and less as time goes on, I've come to accept a fix isn't in any near future, so I just plod along and do content I deem "worth it"

That’s what I was trying to do… it’s getting to the point where not much content is worth it.

Hear you on the frustration, but just to confirm so I can make sure our feedback is accurate for the rest of the team, are you saying that you feel that now post yesterday's change the AI is faster and covering more ground than before yesterday? Or it is still doing the same amount but more frequently? Or the change didn't seem to affect how the game feels? Thank you for any specifics you can provide!

It would help if the team could start by describing what was changed, or rolled back or whatever. The post yesterday in News doesn’t allow comments, which is suspicious at the outset. And while there are three paragraphs of words, there’s almost no information.
What part of the game experience does the team expect to see improved by the changes that were made this week?

Thanks Pinwheel, I appreciate the efforts here and have been a big fan of your communication style and approach on the forums. I’ll bullet my feedback:
- AI passivity feels the same to me. Lots of dash back and holding block. It’s very challenging to get it to engage or attack. I find myself having to hold block to get it to walk in and throw a heavy in the GC which is just a frustrating experience in a meta that should be a faster and more aggressive rate of play. - Due to the dash back and block nature getting parried by blocks faster than frames has been a subsequent pain point additionally the range of the defender attacks seems to have grown in distance and speed as well. It’s like the effective range of their light is twice the range of mine. I’m commonly getting clipped by light attacks after I dex out of medium and try to dex out of a follow up attack. The rate of the attacks is faster than I’m allowed to Dex. - The AIs use of light attack spamming to close distance is more frequent… which would be cool if it was the same speed as my own and I could punish an errant strike but due to the larger effective range of their strikes and quickness of them that’s just not feasible… still the AI has no trouble at all punishes my light whiffs
If anything this rollback feels worse than the AI I experienced in the update. Which while it had some of these problems, the quickness and range did not seem as exaggerated

Just tiresome attempting to bait specials over and over and over…
I hope some kabams peeps acknowledge this nonsense interaction that happens with Aegon or Kingpin. Enemies can somehow hit us while unstoppable and dash back to avoid getting hit . It sure seems like it’s related to the crazy AI issues everyone’s been talking about. This flat out shouldn’t happen. This is from today in AQ

Appreciate the feedback, will try and respond to as much as I can.
I agree that the post is a little light on details, we were erring more on the side of communicating even when we don't have a ton we can say as players have (I think understandably) called us out for the opposite before, saying nothing outside of big updates. So need to find a middle ground there and beef up the post, will see what I can get to add on to it.
As for no comments, that's just because of how the forums work with the categories. We could have potentially posted in General Discussion rather than news, but it was a news style update. Ultimately happy to take feedback on that though and see if future posts like it would fit better in the General Discussion category.

Appreciate it, just doing what I can to give the forums some attention haha. And thank you for the bullets! Can pass this along to the team and keep it in mind. Yesterdays change was definitely not the last update or change to "AI", so really appreciate this level of feedback!
And (below) from a news site (and them having just gotten a new CEO this past May) …
Unity 6 is emphasizing stability, predictable updates and the ability to support hundreds of players in the same virtual world at the same time, Bromberg told CNBC. The company is seeking to rebound from a dark period that’s included layoffs, significant losses, a troubled relationship with many customers and a shake-up at the top.
I'm kind of curious as to why with the passive AI they keep designing game modes around power gain. For instance, to design two consecutive BG seasons around a power gain mechanic when you know the AI is extremely passive doesn't seem to be a real nice move on the game team's part. Maybe limit how much power gain type nodes show up until you figure out how to program a willingness to throw SPs into the AI.

We appreciate the responses. My earlier question still stands — what was the team hoping to accomplish with this week’s change? What did the “highly engaged” players say was better than before? Was the team hoping the adjustments would improve the kind of issues that @BigBlueOx laid out in his comment?
Yea bgs is essentially unplayable for me rn. Basically 1 of every 2 matches is decided for me by ai, and the ones that I win are usually from my opponent fumbling for I can only assume the same reason. It’s just straight up unenjoyable.
I matched a modder today in quantum who even with mods on was only putting up 47-48k scores, so I knew I had a chance if I played well. I outdrafted him, outstrategized him, was in a good position to win but I instead get parried in both rounds and lose by a few thousand points in them both.
Idoom getting a 486k biggest hit against sinister, yeah right.
