Is The Leader any good?

I just got The Leader out of my Titian Crystal from the Battlegrounds Realm Event, and I am currently working through Act 6 Chapter 2. Will he be of any use to me?

    Worthless on attack
Little value as bgs/aw defender, speaking with experience both used and fought against

The door bug is no just visual from what I’ve tested. It’s only triggering degen when they are in the door you can see.

He’s a utility champ with meh damage. I don’t think fixing the door will be enough to make a difference. He needs some more damage somewhere to be more used.

I have him at R2 and use him questing if the path has power gain or a lot of regen but only because I have him at R2. He’s not the best option for either of those kinds of nodes/champs.

He’s too slow for BG attack and he’s no real threat on defense other than being mildly tanky. Just keep him pinned in the corner and you can avoid the door, at least as it is right now.

Count Nefaria does everything but better. Only things Leader is better at is AI manipulation and defense

Jesus Christ people still can’t let go of the “worse Nefaria” accusations. They’re different champs with some kit overlap. Might as well call Aarkus “worse Hyperion” for all the sense it makes.

OP Leader is fine. Not meta defining but he’s solid enough for now, especially since you’re still in act 6. His regen and ability power control is great, debuff spam that ignores purify gets you out of a lot of binds, and his damage isn’t unusable especially since it’s degen that most champs can’t prevent. In target matchups it’s actually fairly good. Solid war attacker this meta because he inflicts so many debuffs and ignores a bunch of the anti-debuff nodes like conflictor. I don’t rate him as highly without the dupe because it slows his ramp and the steadfast is a really nice piece of utility to lose out on but he’s still capable.

Good to see forum MEMEbers back in action 😀

Leader is mid. He don't have damage. He got great power and heal reversal (Probably the best in game), but you know what, in any endgame matchup where you want to use his heal reversal/power reversal, there's a high chance the defender is immune to heal/power reversal.

His steadfast against mystics is solid but he is far behind in science class. I also pulled him and he looks very mid to me.

Also count is released close to leader and he does whatever leader does but with better damage.

Forum users when someone actually leaves a substantive review for a champ instead of just calling him scuffed. That was a solid breakdown that covers what he’s good for and doesn’t overrate him
People just don’t like it when you go against the grain too much. People have already decided that Leader is a waste of code and won’t hear anything otherwise. Perish the thought that a mid or even bad champ might have some good qualities that make them usable in certain capacities, they’re bad so literally never use them.
If it didn't require all sorts of resources to level and rank them, then mid/bad champs that have some niche uses wouldn't be such a disappointment. Bit since every resource you spend on a champ like leader is a resource you now can't use on a champ that is better in almost every respect.

I personally think they screwed up with the leader/nefaria thing, for how similar they are, they were released way too close together.
Yeah I think that releasing them together may result in Kabam considering a small Leader buff, just a thought

You tell us will you 7r3 Leader over the likes of hulk, Titania, Void, ham, silk, nefa, thing, photon, mr negative, luke, spot.

Science class is stacked up and dominated, hell even Overseer and Joe fixit sp1 rotation damage outclass Leader.

So tell us why a regular player will waste resources on champion which Kabam intentionally scuffed out?

Makes no sense in holding him so back when Hulk exists who finish every single fights in ONE BIG CLAP 👏
or defender like spot and Photon where 1 mistake means game over.

    He is just bad designed.

I would r3 Leader if I had him duped. I’d hesitate bc I already have a maxed 6* but I probably would. It’d be because “I like Leader and he’s decent” rather than “this is the best, most powerful and viable champ I have” but again I would. Notably I never said “everyone should r3 Leader”, in fact I suggested in a previous comment in this thread that OP could leave Leader at r1 because he’d do his job at that level.

I also never said that Leader is perfect as is, which you also seem to think I did. I think Leader deserves a tune up. I talk about it in my personal review of the champ; I’d say read it if you’re interested but you clearly aren’t, so just find it in my forum profile and skim it until you find the part where I discuss ways to buff him. I’m not interested in engaging with you any further at this point, if you want to have an actual discussion you can start by not dunking on strawmen and arguing against my actual points.

My perception of him is kind of skewed. He's one of the only viable champs I can use for tactic in T1 AW, yet the tactic/nodes handicap what his debuffs are supposed to do, plus his green door has been bugged for a while now, so he isn't really in the best light.

That's why he's useless. In any nodes where you need to heal reverse/power reverse, the defender most likely is going to have reversal immunity.
